Adversity found a resting place on the strong shoulders of the Tiger team but spirit never faltered. Through four consecutive losses The Withrow squad fought back to gain respect among their peers. With the lead- ership of Jerome Gatewood and Da- vid Faw and the support of the de- termined underclassmen, the spirit of the Tigers did not fall regardless of the outcome. Together they stood strong and mighty t0 the challenge. The mighty line stands up to the test. Support from statisticians and as- sislants. Most of the clubs are honor organizations or academic advancement oriented. We have two honor organizations, Sigma Gamma and Dux Femina. There is something of- fered for every student; vivacious or conservative. Clubs bring the unilateral purpose of high school together, because if students didntt have the ex- treme motivation to excel, all the priceless memo- ries of high school would be extinct. Unique pride and dedication are trademarks of a Withrow stu- dent. They give a part of themselves in that com- mitment to be a Tiger. Top Row. K. Woodlin. L. Petrie, R. Nicholson, L. Ewing. R. Not only does a high school such as Withrow seek to develop and instill edu- cational skills, it also endeavors to foster an appreciation of the arts. I see beyond her loving eyes, looking for someone to love. The pain of her journey in her smile. The love she felt; Gone . . . Stripped away from her very soul . .. She weeps and wonders, Did I? Was it? No answer will consume her pain. By Guy Hammock 56 I may say hello again. Pictures taken by Hank Heideman F arewell Itis over now because of you, You let my love just pass on through. If you had stopped to think of me, Then together we might be. We had a love that seemed so right, But in clear view I saw the light. Your love for me was never real, This love was nothing we could feel; So now farewell to you I say, So sad to see it end this way Your love is ever in my heart, Until the day death do us part. By John Miller 011 A Day Like Today On a day like today, On such a wonderful day. What fun it would be to sit back and remember. Remember old friends and how much pain it took to grow up. Memories to have and to hold till death do us part. By Guy Hammock 'SIeNew Life's Begun In the year of ,81, My vast adventures had begun. Why do you laugh on? You will be very still soon. Never laugh at me! Where Have You Gone Where have you gone With your confident walk, with your crooked smile? Why did you leave me when you took your laughter and departed? Are you aware that with you went the sun, all light and what few stars there were? Where have you gone with your confident walk, your crooked smile? The rent money in one pocket and my heart in another and my dear one . . . you. By Denise Jones High school days were gone a past, The knowledge gained I hoped would last. So then I looked around to find Another person of my kind; Butfsoon after-realized, No one but I could be so wise. But as I searched to find someone, Who in my need, would aIways come, To ease my troubles deep within And walk beside me as a friend. You came along and set me free, Unlocking love with golden key. Now forever I am yours To quench loveis thirstgas it pours. By Dawn Smith With God himself To bind the twain Go fortht brave heart! Attain! Attain! By Reginald B. Murray By Hank Heideman H eavenl y Creation Today we see that June does sun herself 0n beaches where bronze bodies hug the sand; It overcomes us like an Autumn haze, And now I think we can behold these sights Of dreamy, warm, and bright nights of surmise. Be patient for the world is yours and mine, To us it is so quiet and breathtaking To Him it is the creation of lifee His pride and joy, the ultimate designi Both toil and sweat brought to us this now world The future is made of the history. The summer leaves her sunshine evermore. By Jackie Lucas The New Day Dawn Gently I sway, of the new day, When we will be together. Gently I play, Find words to say When I will tell you better. What had gone wrong, It seems so long, Since we have seen each other. What had been done, All that was won, Since we have known another. What can I do, To not think of you, As you have been on my mind. You were so true, I thought I knew, But answers I had to find. What can I say, of the new day, Dreaming of all that we had. Where are you now, I dorft know how, To make things not seem so bad. I sit here and think, What it all means, How can I get him to show. Illl pick up my heart1 find a new start, Maybe then I will know. By Deanna Carr Seniors 0f1981 In this day and age, We must look beyond our past, And into our future. We must pave the roadways, Upon which we tend to walk. We must Open our eyes to the world, And find a space for self-contribution. We have come too far along in life, to let anyone hold us back. So strive for your desires and always look ahead. Because, in the end, you will Receive all that you have given Good Luck By Dawn Smith M. .1 Aerial shot of the lIROW Old School Friends We grinned at each other then.
