Eighth grade general science students learned the principles of series and parallel circuitry. Scientists C hoose From Six Courses Squeamish freshmen slowly entered biology class as they prepared for their first dissection. To their surprise, the intricate patterns of minute organs in the segmented worms made them anticipate more complicated dissections in zoology class. Other students that concentrated on the study of plants and their relation to man welcomed the botany course offered. In physiology class, future nurses began their training; they and other college bound students studied the composition of the body in Chemistry. Physics gave aspiring engineers a new outlook on such simple activities as dropping a pencil or moving a desk, which they had previously ignored, disregarded, or taken for granted. 24 ii 71 t1 '4 - a 1 ,4 5 3 i

Studentst riots, inflation, Vietnam peace talks, the draft, Czechoslova- kia, the race to the moon, the election e teachers worked double time to answer their pupilst probing questions about these issues. History instruc- tors encouraged the new awareness growing among their classes. In an effort to keep abreast with the de- mands, the Board of Education decid- ed the senior high American history program needed revision. Teachers and student advisers, sacrificing their summer vacations, formed a commit- tee to work for an improved curricu- lum. When completed, it called for greater attention to current events and emphasis in achievements by minority groups in the country. 26
