HISTORY OF WITHROW HIGH When the 1910 Cincinnati School Board found a growing need for secondary schools, eyes turned to the Andrew Erkenm brecher estate at Madison and Erie. The land,tafarm 0f twenty-seven acres, had been the home of the first Cincinnati Zoo animals. As a result ofpersuasion from Superin- tendent Randall J. Condon and Board President Dr. John M. thhrow, the Board purchased the estate in 1913. Criticism arose over a deep ravine through the property, but Dr. Withrow proposed a colonial bridge to Span it.
