I am the 1964 XVithrow Annual. This has been an exciting year for me, for I have just made my public debut. If you have a few minutes to spare, let me give you 41 few examples of the hard work that the Art Staff had to endure in order to have me prepared in time for my first airing. First of QM, I needed :1 skeleton. This meant layouts to be drawn up and many hours of deep thought and concentration. Pigment needed to be given to the dull, lifeless eyes; and color was desperately needed in the snow-white' cheeks. This strange form was at last be- ginning to take shape, but was in need of accessories. Pictures were taken, selected, and cropped. Layouts were scaled and words of encouragement were released by the firm and in- spirational Art Editor, Jim Chisholm. I can now think back to the long hours, depressing moments, and changing of ideas that these poor students resisted during my creation. Now I hear all of the laborers echaiming my praise. I: must not have been in vain. Mr. Jack Mueller, Adviser, contributed his suggestions and supervised this successful experiment. As 1 symbol of the drama and devoteduess which are :1 part of Tigertown life, I shall remain in Hall of Fame for Withrow Yearbooks as a credit to the Art Staff members Who worked incessantly 50 :15 to present Wfithrowites With an accurate account of their life at Withrow this past year. I shrill always remind them of the enriching times they had during this past YCIII'. 11M CHISHOLM, Ari Edifor SYCTION HEADS-P. Clark, Seniors; 1.. Yelton. Underclnssmcn; C. AN NUAL LIT STAFF The anchors were raised, and the sails were rustling in the afternoon breezes as the crew of the Annual Literary Staff began preparations for full sailing ahead. As the ship com- menced motion her crew mustered around the shipis adviser, Miss Richmond; the captain, Brenda Brandfass; and her first mate, Judy XViIson. These people helped the crew steer their courseewhich was to contribute their finest literary abilities to the ship,s 10g tbetter known as the Withrow High School AnnuaD. After roll call had been announced, each mem- ber of the crew was left to embark on his assignment. An inspection at this time of Room 2S0 would exhibit an ef- ficiently operating group striving for a mutual goal. A glance to the how would reveal the shipis adviser or its captain dependably taking the helm, while at the shipis stern pondering students were receiving assistance from the ex- perienced, well-seasoned members of this staff. Intent writers producing copyblocks, idents, or captions were disclosed in a glimpse of the port side. At starboard busy fingers were typing the achievements of the crew members. The over-all picture of this group displayed pride, for they knew their ship, the 1964 Withrow High School Annual, Was headed in the right direction. Finally, near the end of the year, :1 lookout man high in his crowk nest cried, uLand aheadlj, The Annual Lit Staff was ready to land; they had completed their voyage.
