Many hours of laborious prepara- tion went into making Withrow's school dances a fitting climax to the week's work, Crepe paper, glitter, sequins, and balloons lay in a jum- bled heap on the gym floor. Busy little Tigers scurried to and fro pick- ing up this, dropping that. A mirac- ulous transformation took place- within hours the dreary gymnasium, became a Japanese garden for a Rickshaw Sway, a football stadi- um for a Gridiron Gallavant, and even a carnival for our Tigertown Twirl. Not all of the dances were completely inside. Homecoming traditionally began with a parade of floats carrying the candidates for king and queen around the track before the start of our Homecoming game. Deluges of rain soaked the floats and stopped the parade, but this didn't dampen the spirits of enthusiastic W i t h r o w i t e s who flocked back to school for the dance that evening.
