During the crisp autumn days many girls played hockey, while athletic-minded boys practiced passing, kicking, running, and tackling for the week-end football games. With the approach of wintry winds sports went inside to the hardcourts. The excite- ment and hopes for the championship were shared by both squad and spectators during the long basketball season. Girls, too, scorched the cords, GAA offered basket- ball and volleyball. Down in the pool the dolphins and mermen raced and performed. The advent of spring found action moved to the diamond, track, and court. Our Sketch of athletics is not complete with- out the intramural, interfraternity, and junior high sports, which offered health- ful activities and exercise to many. Some of the most important of the myriad sketches from which we drew our Sketch were the curricular activities. Withrow, a compre- hensive high school, offers general, academic, college preparatory, and advanced placement programs. Through these various fields pu- pils are given a wide scope of subject matter. As the artist builds finite creations from his sketches, so do Withrow graduates build their lives, professions, and future happinesses from the fundamental blue- print attained through diligence and perseverance in high school days.
