Books! Books! Books! Books of every color and size, on almost every subject, can be found in the Withrow Li- brary. Shakespeare, Emer- son. Poe, Hawthorne, Thurber -all are here to aid and inspire students. Everything from aardvark to zebra is within easy reach of our two librarians, Mrs. Links and Mrs. McDaniel. Here the stu- dent finds a quiet spot in which he may study, relax, or read for pleasure. Withrow is also immensely proud of the tremendous job being done by Mrs. Miles, Mr. Yacks, and Mr. Bennington-teachers for students with hearing prob- lems. The work of these teachers will allow our deaf children to lead normal and happy lives. BOYS APPLY OLD ADAGE LEARN BY DOING TO MANUAL TRADES. The industrial arts section, one of the most elaborate in the city, is divided into six separate courses. Wood- working deals with the art of carpentry and furniture making, while foundry and welding highlight the metal- working program. The print shop occupies itself with the school office printing. Elec- trical classes and multiple- purpose shops offer a more generalized course. Skill in understanding industrial de- signs is developed in the student through mechanical drawing.
