1 I l SCORES OF FLASHING FINGERS CREATE A STACCATO RHYTHM IN A JUNIOR TYPING CLASS. Commercial Courses Prepare Pupils For Future 'N it Qs s - 'S 1, Withrow's commercial courses, like those of other schools, have grown tremendously in the last few years. Typing gives the student a chance to apply skills in actual production. Shorthand continues to be the hub of the commercial wheel. It places a greater emphasis upon exactness and accuracy. General Business, as a basic course for all pupils, offers an introduction to business and economic competency. Including actual production, filing, and clerical work, the Office Practice course adds to the student's business knowledge. On-the-job experience is gained by the merchandising classes who work part-time in offices and stores. Working for the school services helps students gain poise and self-confidence which are necessary qualities in business. The commercial department of Withrow is one of the finest and best equipped in the city. Withrowites who take these business courses can be proud of their excellent business training. In gym the main objective is to train Withrow's students in the proper executions of basic rules in exercise and sportsmanship. Carrying out this pro- gram calls for excellent leadership and understanding. It remains the purpose of the health department to create better potential citizens by instruction in good health habits and drivers' education.
