Historical as well as contemporary culture is a topic discussed in sociology, while stu- dents in economics are concerned with the problems in production, consumption, distribution and ex- change, or inflation and deflation. Since the students of today will be the leaders of tomorrow, it is necessary that they understand the ever-changing cycle of events of the modern world. The fate of nations, the fortunes of men, and the probing questions that only exploration can explain are all unveiled by history. The mysteries of life itself are exemplified through study of mankind. Our expert teachers strive to make the past live in the present, trying unfailingly to unscramble the facts from fiction. Controversy stimulates the imagina- tion of interested students. The old maps, charts, pictures, and relics of the past become part of our lives in a fascinating pattern. Eager Students Study Science And Its Processes Not long ago the United States sent up its first satellite, The Explorer. A new outlook started in education in the fields of science. Withrow is ready to take her place in -this world in which there is a need for a great emphasis on sciences. She has courses in both the natural and social phases. Withrow, clearly showing her foresight into the un- known future, has supplied faster moving courses for those who excel in science, besides the regular courses for those who are less ambitious. Her teachers continue their research so as to meet the demand. Biology, botany, and physiology still rank as high as chemistry and physics, nevertheless. The rocket age has put emphasis on the sciences of experimentation, but a full and understanding knowledge of the world around is necessary today. Noted for outstanding performance, the music section has Won many awards to its credit-a first place in the state contest at Capitol Univer- sity. Our art department is one of which students may well be proud. Talented Withrowites are given useful ad- vice by capable and helpful faculty members in order to perfect their skills.
