b.i.e.day B.l.E. Dayl That was the title given the day on which Dr. Carl lvl. l-lorn's plan to create a better understanding be- tween business and education was real- ized. Teachers were to acquire first hand knowledge of industry by taking specially-guided tours through various factories and stores. This idea, worked out successfully in several cities, came to Cincinnati from Dayton. The activi- ties, supervised by the Chamber of Commerce B.l.E. Day Committee, be- ban early Wednesday, Cctober I8, when nearly 2000 teachers from all the f-lamilton County l-ligh Schools asf sembled in lvlusic l-lall to receive a short outline of the day's schedule. The teachers were then taken by chartered busses to their assigned companies where they were told the corporation's background and organization. Tours through these factories or stores ended with special luncheons at which corp- oration officials lectured briefly. Soon after lunch the teachers returned to lviusic l-lall ending this very stimulating and entertaining day. Cincinnati's in- initial B.l.E. Day, which was con- sidered a real success, was followed on April I9 with a reciprocal ar- rangement with businessmen visiting the schools to learn how they function. The educators met at Music Hall before embarking on their tours. 1 's., H .5 5. .. Y ,ri- A .. 3 V tial if .3 ,i S if so we Almost eighty businesses and industries in Cincinnati were visited.
