PUPILS WATCH CHEMICAL PROCESSES Withrow, in coniunction with other high schools, is endeavoring to bring forward future chemical sci- entists to aid the world in its strug- gle to find scientific truths. Here the burning of copper is taking place as one example of the many ex- periments performed by students and teachers alike along with the regular class study. A fascinating science is the composition of sub- stances and their transformations. Chemistry requires concentration, and is therefore valuable for mental training as well as for learning sci- entific facts. 1. THERE'S NO SLIDING THROUGH MATH intricate instruments are used in ad- vanced classes of mathematics as is demonstrated here. The necessity for reasoning and intensive concentration lead to the development of clear, con- cise, and conscientious thinking. To be versed in the science of thinking is to comprehend the importance of mi- nute details. Mathematics also teaches us the virtues of patience, accurate- ness, and precision.
