Routsong UUR LEHDIIIG SEIIIUH GIRLS TUPIFIED Withrow is certainly proud of Dux Femina, an hon- orary society consisting of sixteen senior girls. To be eligible for this group, one must have scholastic ability and be outstanding in almost every field. Every year the society awards a scholarship to a deserving senior girl. Dux Femina, which means women leaders, is a very active organization. B9 DUX FEIHIIIH HRE CLEVER HIID lillili Responsible Dux Femina girls, besides their many other useful activities at Withrow, can be seen at the first of the school year directing confused freshmen to and from their classes. Because of their useful service, these girls have acquired the complimentary title of Senior Guides. These efficient guides are a real asset to the school.

VHTHTIUITS UVER, STUIJEITTS UJELTUTTIE UITE HTIDTHER T0 THE PHTHS 0F UJITHRUTU Throughout the excited rush associated with the first day of school, the students of Withrow take time to greet one another ioyfully on the front steps and to renew old friendships. They once again view the beautiful surroundings and revisit familiar places together. Later, school may become a more serious matter-just at present it seems carefree. Qs In days to come pupils will begin to realize that another milestone of progress is now being laid along Withrow's pathways. The typical student does not think narrowly about his immediate community, but sets his mind on broader horizons-those horizons containing the problems of the world. Yes, Withrow is vigorously progressing.

MR. MATHIAS-FRIEND TO ALL WHO TRAVEL WITHROW'S PATHWAYS Of the many outstanding personalities that make up Withrow, one of the foremost is Mr. Mathias, the new assistant principal, who is also dean of freshmen and junior boys and manages the business end of the bookroom. Mr. Mathias is everyone's friend and is always willing to help others. GOOD-NATURED BOOKROOM BOYS SKILLFULLY SERVE THE LONG LINES OF WAITING STUDENTS AT WITHROW Probably the most beaten pathway of Withrow is the pathway to the supply room. Fountain pen, lead pencil, or theme- paper, whatever you want, the boys in the bookroom will gladly serve you. They come early and stay late in order to fulfill their duties of supplying the teachers and pupils. The village store of Withrow is open for business before and after school and during the lunch period, at which time the crowd quickly gathers for service. If one passes through the hall in front of the bookroom at times, he may hear the hep-tune of a jazz piece or the lilting strains of a lyric.
