for intelligent citizenship in the world of tomorrow. First Row MR. MATHIAS- Came here 25 years ago to teach agriculture, now teaches math, and takes part in lunchroom supervision. MR. HENSEL- Teaching school and partici- pating in all sports rank high on this Junior High teacher's list of likes. MISS MEREDITH- Little known places, people, and her vocation head the list of the likes of this English instructor. MISS MOORMAN- Theater and music rank high as leisure occupations for this English teacher. Second Row MISS MUDGE- Spanish teacher, finds pleas- ure in the theater, reading, and knitting. Third Row MR. OBERSCHMIDT- Electricity teacher, spends much of his time, both at school and in his home work- shop, making shop models and electrical toys. Fourth Row MISS POOLEY- In addition to her duties as Withrow librarian, she enjoys reading, canoeing, and baking cakes. MISS HOLLAND- Math teacher, new to With- row this year, likes bridge and bowling, besides teaching First aid classes. MRS. 0'CONNELL- Known for her surprise Span- ish tests to her students, pro- fesses her husband her fav- orite hobby. MISS RATTERMAN- Who has taught English at Withrow for twenty-five years likes birds and babies. 21 MR. NIMMO- The bag-pipe skirling gym teacher of Scottish descent professes a fondness for just athletics and music. MISS PARKS- A commercial teacher con- soles herself with plays and books until traveling is again possible. MR. RAY- Junior High woodwork teacher, hunting and fishing enthusiast, takes trailer life and gardening in his stride. MRS. NOONAN- Teaches social science in the Junior High school. MISS PERIN- Math teacher, in spending her week-ends in the country, has a chance to satisfy her love for nature. MISS REHRING- After completing her work in the library, she enjoys out- door sportsg also proudly dis- plays the desk she made. .E i el

In their hands lies the task of educating today s pupllf Second Row MISS HINES- A World Series never opens here w i t h o u t this civics teacherg golf and bowling are also tops on her list. Third Row MR. HUNT- Besides teaching his regular history and algebra classes, he helps in the lunchroom, and supervises the boys bowl- ing club. Fouxrth Row MR. KING- Well-known coach of the Tiger Gridmen enjoys golf, hunting, and fishing. MR. HOLBO- Withrow's only printing in- structor, teaches a full-day schedule and works in a print shop from 4 to 9 P. M. MRS. HUTCHINSON- Gives helpful hints to her botany pupils by her practical experience in victory gardening. MISS KITZMAN- Teacher of Latin and Spanish enjoys knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint and her fav- orite hobby of antiques. MR. HOLDER- Instructor in mechanical and architectural drawing is a great camping enthusiast. MISS IRWIN- Spends her spare time read- ing mystery s t o r i e s and working trigonometry problems. MRS. LALLY- Gym teacher favors house- keeping, cooking, hiking and reading as hobbies. 20 First Row MISS GROVE- Interests her Latin classes and Gens Togata by knowl- edge of Ancient Greece and Rome obtained by trips abroad. MRS. HARTSELL-- A teacher of history spends all of her spare time in her home and garden since travel- ing is impossible. MRS. HERFURTH- Junior High English teacher, enjoys reading and working in her victory garden, in her leisure time. MISS HILDEBRANDT- English teacher finds fossil hunting and teaching English enjoyable. MR. HOWE- Teaching physics does not of- fer ample outlet for his wit and energy so he is active in Physics and Radio Clubs, Gamma and Delta Ys. MISS KELLER- After teaching history, she is content to listen to fine music and read. MR. LEACH- Machine shop, 'metal work, and drawing teacher has not been absent or tardy in 24 years at Withrow.

I Third Row MR. SCHIRMER- Early rising arts and crafts teacher whose sidelines are commercial art and bowling bigger, and better curves. Fourth Row MR. SHELLY- Math teacher, spends his leisure time raising dahlias, and enjoys sports as a pro- fession and an avocation. Fifth Row MISS HUTCHISON- Former student and new gym instructor this year, enjoys s a i li n g, symphonies, and teaching first aid classes. MISS SEAY- Spends what little free time she has in reading and knit- ting when her day of teach- ing commercial subjects is over. MR. SHERMAN- Off to war! After nine happy years here, this social studies teacher will miss his classes and tennis. MRS. FOMENKO- A new member of the gym department and August bride enjoys delving into the mys- teries of cooking. MR. SEAY- Teaches several bookkeeping classes besides performing his duties as school treasurer, photography and stamps are his hobbies. MISS SIBCY- Besides performing her duties as an English teacher, finds interest in foreign affairs. MR. IVAN MYERS- Junior High English teacher, uses his extra energy plan- ning revisions of p r e s e n t math and science courses. First Row MR. REUTER- After gym classes Doc is content to recline in his rocker or entertain his grand- daughter. MISS ROCKEL- Beside teaching clothing has devoted outside time to the Community Chest, Red Cross and to her garden. MR. ROESE- After a day of physics and aeronautics classes, spends his extra time as engineer at Gruen Watch Co. MISS ROGOFF- Teaches lip reading and language to totally deaf chil- dren who come from Cincin- nati and outlying districts. Second Row MISS ROSENBERGER- Enjoys riding, reading, golf, or bridge when she is not teaching English and history, or directing Thalian. MISS ROWELL- Math teacher accomplished in water color and cooking, hopes to have a room with an eastern exposure. MISS ADELAIDE- Horatio-at-the-bridge Sanders, teacher of advanced math, enjoys music and na- ture for relaxation. MR. SAN K EY- Teacher of science and math is much interested in fauna and Hora and wishes to re- turn to his farm in the spring. MISS SHAFFER- Teacher of world history and algebra I, enjoys news-reels, basketball games, and rubber- tire hikes. MISS SIEHL- Although she spends many hours with her German classes, delights in reading German books and current events. MR. RHOLLANS- Teaches civics and business arithmetic, acts as business advisor of the Annual and boosted sales to a new high. TEACHERS WHOSE PICTURES DO NOT APPFAR 22
