Second Row Not only is there an art in First Row MISS CAVENDISH- Who teaches English and civics, emphasizes tolerance above all to her pupils. MISS CONNER- Who has taught five kinds of math in the last 25 years, has a collection of antique furniture and glassware. MISS COOK- Art teacher, finds pleasure in landscape painting, reading and movies. MISS CORCORAN- Teacher of commercial sub- jects, enjoys books, plays, and hopes to travel to historic places after the war. MISS DICKINSON- Enjoys good music and books along with teaching her his- tory and Latin classes. Third Row MISS FEYEIQEISEN- Teaches typing and geography. Fourth Row MISS GOOD- English teacher, delights in reading, drama, and being a handy-woman around her Vir- ginia home. MISS DORNETTE- After a day of school this Junior High science teacher enjoys working in her yard and keeping in voice. MISS COE- Junior high social studies teacher, enjoys traveling, but because of the war spends her summers in the country. MISS GOOLEY- Teaches salesmanship, adver- tising, and junior business, and has charge of all school ticket sales. 19 knowing a thing, but also a certain art in teaching it.-Cicero. MISS EPPINGER- Who has traveled extensively, teaches Spanish and also speaks French, Italian, and German. MISS FREEMAN- Teacher of English, spends her leisure hours attending alumnal meetings, playing bridge and driving her Chevrolet. MISS GREEN- Teaches Art, supervises the Annual Art and Advertising staffsg does professional ad- vertising illustrations and copy in spare moments, MISS FELS- During the present crisis the farm is her keenest interest aside from teaching mathe- matics in the Junior High. MR. DAVIDSON This Junior High science teacher spends his spare time indulging in his f a v o ri t e sports, hunting and fishing. MR. GRETHER- Teaches music, directs Choir, Boys' and Girls' Glee Clubs, and occasionally leads pep assemblies in a rousing cheer.

Third Row MISS BLASBERG- After teaching gym likes to read mystery stories, sleep late on Saturday, and prepare packages for overseas mail. Fourth Row MR. BRUBAKER- Teacher of chemistry, likes movies and good magazines, when he is not busy in his laboratory. MISS BAHR- A teacher of commercial and social subjects and business advisor of Tower News col- lects famous paintings. MR. BEHRMAN- The music department's loss was the Marines' gain as Doc answered the call to arms, taking his basic train- ing at Parris Island. MISS CAMPBELL- Teacher of English enjoys reading current books, non- fiction preferred, and travel by air. MR. BAKER- Finds carpentry and wood- work bring relaxation after a day of teaching algebra and chemistry. MISS BOWMAN- Math teacher, a Red Cross driver, is learning motor me- chanics, likes bowling, knitting and motoring. MR. ENDRES- Junior High Woodwork teacher, builds special furni- ture, cares for chickens, and travels during his spare time. 18 First Row MISS BERESKIN- Junior High teacher, who spe- cializes in teaching her pupils to read with understanding, enjoys all kinds of athletics. MISS ANSHUTZ- English teacher, enjoys the drama, reading and traveling. MISS ATKINS- English teacher, likes ama- teur movies, politics. reading, and after the war hopes to go to Europe. MISS BISCEGLIA- This commercial teacher and former member of the Na- tional Academy of Music en- joys symphonies and operas. MRS. BAKER- Baseball and bridge are sec- ond only to mathematics for this Junior High School teacher. MISS BRAUNECKER- English teacher, spends her spare time delving into bird- study and geology. MISS CAVEMAN- A teacher of history and sponsor of Tower-Y spends her spare time in the garden or swimming pool.

In their hands lies the task of educating today s pupllf Second Row MISS HINES- A World Series never opens here w i t h o u t this civics teacherg golf and bowling are also tops on her list. Third Row MR. HUNT- Besides teaching his regular history and algebra classes, he helps in the lunchroom, and supervises the boys bowl- ing club. Fouxrth Row MR. KING- Well-known coach of the Tiger Gridmen enjoys golf, hunting, and fishing. MR. HOLBO- Withrow's only printing in- structor, teaches a full-day schedule and works in a print shop from 4 to 9 P. M. MRS. HUTCHINSON- Gives helpful hints to her botany pupils by her practical experience in victory gardening. MISS KITZMAN- Teacher of Latin and Spanish enjoys knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint and her fav- orite hobby of antiques. MR. HOLDER- Instructor in mechanical and architectural drawing is a great camping enthusiast. MISS IRWIN- Spends her spare time read- ing mystery s t o r i e s and working trigonometry problems. MRS. LALLY- Gym teacher favors house- keeping, cooking, hiking and reading as hobbies. 20 First Row MISS GROVE- Interests her Latin classes and Gens Togata by knowl- edge of Ancient Greece and Rome obtained by trips abroad. MRS. HARTSELL-- A teacher of history spends all of her spare time in her home and garden since travel- ing is impossible. MRS. HERFURTH- Junior High English teacher, enjoys reading and working in her victory garden, in her leisure time. MISS HILDEBRANDT- English teacher finds fossil hunting and teaching English enjoyable. MR. HOWE- Teaching physics does not of- fer ample outlet for his wit and energy so he is active in Physics and Radio Clubs, Gamma and Delta Ys. MISS KELLER- After teaching history, she is content to listen to fine music and read. MR. LEACH- Machine shop, 'metal work, and drawing teacher has not been absent or tardy in 24 years at Withrow.
