First Raw: MR. ANDERSON, teacher of bookkeeping, no longer has an excuse for visiting Florida-the excuse is now Mrs. Anderson. MISS ANSHUTZ-A delight in motoring along country roads and a deep interest in the drama provide this English teacher's recreation when day is done. MR. ATHERTON-When finished with his physics classes, Mr. Atherton, sponsor of the Camera Club, devotes himself to photography. MISS ATKINS-One of those teachers of English who believe that there is no royal road to mastery of her subiect-hence, woe to those who would slight it. Second Row: MISS BAEHR-By, songs, talks, and stories, this cheer- ful French teacher adds variety and color to her classes. MISS BAHR- Now let's get busy, is a familiar re- quest to her commercial classes and Tower News Business Staff. MR. BAKER-One of those rare teachers of chemistry who can smile benevolently and place a zero in the grade book at one and the same time. MRS. BAKER-A bridge game or the Reds' opening game satisfy Mrs. Baker when she is not teaching mathematics in the iunior high. Third Row: MISS BERESKIN, iunior high teacher, enjoys travel- ing and taking pictures, particularly in Mexico. MISS BISCEGLIA-This commercial teacher is especial- ly enthusiastic about encouraging the sale of defense stamps and the collection of books for soldiers. MISS BLASBERG, one of our energetic gym teachers, enioys detective stories and dancing, and has fun with her movie camera. MISS BRAUNECKER-Miss Braunecker introduces Eng- lish grammar lessons with the encouraging remark, Don't expect a thrill a minutel Fourth Row: MR. BRUBAKER-A splintering crash in the chemistry lab-then his diabolical comment, Ah, business is picking up! MISS CAMPBELL teaches English, when traveling she prefers to go by air. MR. CARLSON-When one can not find Mr. Carlson in the woodworking shop making cabinets or toys, it is a sure bet he will be fishing or hunting. MISS CAVEMAN wishes she could get a rise from her history classes as easily as she does from her garden. Fifth Row: MISS CAVENDISH--To attend every performance at the Cox Theater and to keep her little farm in West Virginia going successfully are the extra-curricular activities of this history teacher. MISS COE-Making history and geography pertinent to modern life is a task easily accomplished by Miss Coe. MISS CONNER-Miss Conner, supervisor of student math teachers, is a recognized authority on antique glassware and furniture. MISS COOK is an energetic art teacher with a love of outdoors and an unpredictable classroom technique. Sixth Row: MISS CORCORAN teaches typing and stenography. MR. DAVIDSON-Hunting and fishing run a close sec- ond to science in the eyes of this iunior high teacher. MISS DlCKINSON'S sundry interests include teaching history and Latin, keeping house, traveling, and read- ing. MISS DORNETTE-Bugs, butterflies, and birds comprise the main interests of this iunior high school science teacher.

Befuddled freshmen find relief in the advice of Miss Murphy and Mr. Vigard, who remedy errors in schedules, issue excuses, and help with many puzzling tasks confronting students. During the next three years students find in Miss Hall's counsel invaluable assistance in choosing future vocations.

First Row: MISS DURHAM-Heading the committee for the mins- trel costumes and teaching household arts command most of Miss Durham's time. MISS FELS-When the last school bells of the year ring, Miss Fels, mathematics teacher in iunior high, makes a bee-line for her farm near Chillicothe. MISS FEYEREISEN-A good rest, whether in iowa or her Cincinnati home, is always welcome as a break in her typing and shorthand classes. MRS. FLINT-Her love of rhythm began with her study of music and developed into gym teaching at junior high. Second Row: MISS FOSTER-Miss Foster, gym teacher, like the pro- verbial busman, names dancing and sports as her hobbies, she is president of the Cincinnati Dance Club. MISS FREEMAN, after her English classes are over, finds enioyment in the International Relations and Literary groups of the A.A.U.W. MR. FRIEDRICH, energetic teacher of English, has re- cently attained considerable distinction through the publication of his first book of poetry. MR. GERDSEN-The teams he coaches win games with mathematical precision-easily explained by the fact that the coach teaches algebra. Third Row: MISS GOOD-After a long winter of teaching English and attending the theater, she likes to spend her summers taking it easy at her home in Virginia. MISS GOOLEY is as amiable and efficient in the management of Withrow's ticket sales as she is in her salesmonship and advertising classes. MISS GREEN-After school hours, the zealous advisor for the Annual Art Staff enioys the company of her dog, Jamie, the subiect of many of her water colors. MR. GRETHER, music instructor and choir director also leads the choir of his church and is a member of the Withrow Schoolmasters' Bowling Team No. I. Fourth Row: MISS GROVE tries to instill in her Latin pupils the enthusiasm which she herself feels for the subject. MISS HALL'S intense interest in people of all kinds makes her a most sympathetic and helpful Vocational Counsellor at Withrow. MR. HARNER-Radio Technicians and operators are in the making in the radio shop under the capable direction of Mr. Horner. MRS. HARTSELL-Mrs. Hartsell devotes the time not spent in teaching history to her husband and home. Fifth Row: MR. HENSEL-Getting the iunior highers physically fit for harder work ahead is the iob of Pop Hensel, physical education instructor in the Junior High. MISS HILDEBRANDT-Cultivating a flower garden and painting with water colors help to make life interesting for the head of the English department. MISS HINES, enthusiastic civics and consumer infor- mation teacher, attends baseball games and partici- pates in golf and bowling, with an equal zest. MR. HOLBO4-By printing all the programs and notices for Withrow, Mr. Holbo makes the print shop serve a practical purpose as it teaches the printer's art to students. Sixth Row: MR. HOLDER, mechanical drawing teacher and fish- erman extraordinary, claims no one can tell a story about the one that got away as well as he can. MR. HOWE-Confronted by rows of blank faces after explaining some easy principle in physics, Mr. Howe wishes he were back at the seashore. MR. HUNT, after a day with history classes, drowns his sorrows in his fish ponds. MRS. HUTCHINSON-Our botany teacher, Mrs. Hutch- inson enioys to the fullest degree the outdoor life on her farm. 'f 4
