if Ig T0 THE SEIIIURS Entering Withrow as awe-struck freshies , they were soon initiated into the ways of a large and overcrowded high school, to the Hughes Classic, and to the Minstrel Show. In January the famous flood of 1937 rose and carried in its wake the mid-year exams. As sopho- mores, returning from a lengthened Christmas holiday, they faced their first mid-year exams, since all their prayers failed to invoke another deluge. As juniors, an unusual number of them began to star in dramatics, athletics, music, and journalism. They affected a more casual air, and being late to classes failed to frighten them any longer. They established a delightful inno- vation by inaugurating Hi-Y Hops, afternoon dances held in the middle gym to the tune of various orches- tras.
