Mr. Garfield King em- phasized that it is one thing to verbalize one's thoughts but it is an entirely different morter to place one's thoughts down in writing for all to read for many years to come. Writing takes guts and these students willingly demonstrated that they in- deed had the needed courage by expressing themselves in writing. Congratula- tions to all you young writers. 72 Mrs. Penny Albert Keynote Speaker Mrs. Bern Albert MSAD 33 Writing Contest Chairperson Mr. Garfield King Superintendant, MSAD 33 My Summer Adventure Last summer, I was outside playing with my dog, Macy. kept throwing a ball and she'd chase it. We kept getting further and further in the field. Then, with a thump I tripped and fell on my knees. I went to look or what I tripped on. It was the top of a huge bone, from what I could see of it. The more I scraped around it the bigger it seemed, and the more curious I become. I ran to the house to get my mother's garden tools, ond carefully I dug around the bone. Day after doy I kept or it until I could see the full shape of it. To my surprise it hod the shape of o skull. It hod mold ond fungus ond other plants growing on it. But it was definitely the shape of a skull, bur who's skull. No human or animal on earth would hove o skull that size. Could it be a dinosaur skeleton? I looked around and realized that I could be rich. Wow, I'm going to be rich ond famous. The first kid in Maine to discover dinosaur fossils. Hurry coll, somebody, move, do something.” Finally, I convinced my mother to see whot I hod found. Ifold you it was o dinosaur fossil ond you didn't believe me,” I gloated. It's the top of the skull of o dinosaur and the rest of is is under the ground. My mother just stood there not excited ot oil. What's wrong,” I osked? WISDOM JUNIOR SENIOR HIGH BAND A norher exciting yeor hos passed for the Wisdom Junior Senior High Bond. Hours of practicing alone and os o group resulted in some truly fine performances for students and com- munity members alike. A well attended and very suc- cessful Christmas Concert wos the highlight of the first semester for the Wisdom bond. Songs such as He Is Born, and o medley of three tradi- tional Christmas songs entitled Three Gifts For Christmas,” were featured and enjoyed by everyone. The Spring semester presents its own challenges for any bond and Wisdom's is no exception. Revolving around major testing and essential social events such os the Junior Senior Prom, an eighth grade and a high school graduation are the regular bond practices necessary for the Spring Concert os well os the music for the two graduation com- mencements. Somehow though, under the direction of Mrs. Sue Olmsteod. the Wisdom Bond manages to make us oil very proud to hove them around. So bond members, whether you bang, slam, blow, pluck, slide, strum, top or just plug up some holes with your gifted fingers, know that your experience os a bond member is one that will be with you the rest of your life. Congratulations and thanks for the fine music. WHAT'S FOR LUNCH? The Advanced Foods ond Nutrition Class of Wisdom High School has studied School Nutrition Programs and the requirements and recom- mendations of the USDA. As a pro- ject, each student wrote a menu in proper form which our head cook, Mrs. Joan Cyr, incorporated in the Wisdom Hish School Lunch Program. On the day that the student's lunch was served, that student helped prepare the menu during his her morn- ing study hall. This student also helped to serve the meal to the other students. Through this project the students gain- ed o better understanding of the school lunch program and whot is involved in the planning, preparation, and serving of meals in our schools. It also gave them o opportunity to learn about food service os a vocation. The students involved in this project were Nancy Albert, Jessica Clark, Karen Corriveau, Renee Daigle, Jason Latham, Cindy Michaud, Peggy Michaud, and Debbie Sirois. The person responsible for develop- ing and overseeing this project was Mrs. Judith Foster, Home Economics Teacher, Wisdom High School.
