He recalls the strength and virility Of youth, of other loved things Claimed by the ravages of time Replaced instead by the wisdom and understanding That his noble eyes radiate. The faintly smiling creased lips Indicate his oneness with the breeze that Caresses the furrows of his gentle face, With the crickets that dance To the sparrow's song. The crimson glory casts its final rays On the peace-ridden expression of a man Now content to leave, that he may Advance his spirit, and leave behind no regrets. The competition is stiff and the hours slowly drag by But I refuse to give and push on, mile after mile. At last I see the finish line There is nothing in my way I charge forward with all remaining might and go for the glory on this happy day. I can see the fans standing as they madly cheer away but then the alarm clock rings and I awake to a new day. Consider yourself not to be the only one Not everyone is always happy Sometimes they feel blue. So listen to me and I will show you what to do. Don't live your life being strict, think of yourself as a winner It’s not that bad and you won’t be called a sinner Maybe one day you will be really happy then you’ll see You’ll be happy I told you to live in a fantasy. I couldn't open it' and I grew restless. Since there was no doorknob nor handle to grasp. I pushed with all my might. A small, so very small gap appeared and out came light. It flooded the corner. Suddenly I was hopeful, so I pushed some more and the door gave way. I found myself where all fantasies begin, are nourished, and then are returned after they have been used; for fantasies never die, they just become nostalgia after awhile. With so much content, I closed the door forever.
