The Senior Class of Wisdom High School Presents PIONEER 1979 Wisdom High School St. Agatha, Maine CO H z Theme Faculty Underclassmen a3 Qports Organizations H Awards Prom z Graduation Advertisers o u 2 The yearbook staff invites you to travel with us on a journey through our 1978- 1979 Pioneer yearbook. We all have crossed many bridges, climbed many hills, and hit many obstacles this year, but still we've kept on moving. The wayfarer Perceiving the pathway to truth Was struck with astonishment It was thickly grown with weeds Later he saw that each weed Was a singular knife Well! he mumbled at last, Doubtless there are other roads. = Find a way or make a way! Life is like a journey on a train with 2 fellow travelers at each window pane. Or I may sit elsewhere, never knowing you. 15 16 The text of civil instruction — the touchstone by which to try the services of those we trust; and should we wander from them in moments of error or alarm, let us hasten to retrace our steps, and to regain the road which alone leads to peace, liberty, and safety. When a road is once built, it is a strange thing how it collects traffic, how every year as it goes on, more and more people are found to walk thereon, and others raised to repair and perpetuate it, and keep it alive. 25 FRONT: David Bosse, Dawn Daigle, Lisa Lavoie, Debbie Michaud, Tommy Thibodeau, Alan Cyr, Brian Gervais, Kathy Goyette. And that has made all the difference. 32 CYNTHIA ALBERT KAREN ALBERT RITA ALBERT SANDRA ALBERT PAULINE BERNIER GARY BOURGOIN DAVID CHAMBERLAND KIM CHAMBERLAND 33 Winter Carnival 1979 FULFILLMENT Cradled by the warm glow Of a mellow bleeding sun An ancient one reflecting turns The pages of the story of his life. He recalls the strength and virility Of youth, of other loved things Claimed by the ravages of time Replaced instead by the wisdom and understanding That his noble eyes radiate. The faintly smiling creased lips Indicate his oneness with the breeze that Caresses the furrows of his gentle face, With the crickets that dance To the sparrow's song. The crimson glory casts its final rays On the peace-ridden expression of a man Now content to leave, that he may Advance his spirit, and leave behind no regrets. The competition is stiff and the hours slowly drag by But I refuse to give and push on, mile after mile. At last I see the finish line There is nothing in my way I charge forward with all remaining might and go for the glory on this happy day. I can see the fans standing as they madly cheer away but then the alarm clock rings and I awake to a new day. Consider yourself not to be the only one Not everyone is always happy Sometimes they feel blue. So listen to me and I will show you what to do. Don't live your life being strict, think of yourself as a winner It’s not that bad and you won’t be called a sinner Maybe one day you will be really happy then you’ll see You’ll be happy I told you to live in a fantasy. I couldn't open it' and I grew restless. Since there was no doorknob nor handle to grasp. I pushed with all my might. A small, so very small gap appeared and out came light. It flooded the corner. Suddenly I was hopeful, so I pushed some more and the door gave way. I found myself where all fantasies begin, are nourished, and then are returned after they have been used; for fantasies never die, they just become nostalgia after awhile. With so much content, I closed the door forever. Michael Morin 49 8 P 0 R T 8 There is tolerable traveling on the beaten road, run how it may; only on the new road not yet leveled and paved, and on the old road all broken into ruts and quagmires, is the traveling bad or impracticable. 50 SOCCER 1st ROW: Dave Albert, Danny Daigle, Jack Michaud, Mike Soucy, Chris Michaud, Mac Desjardins, Andy Mar- tin. 2nd ROW: Paul Cyr, Gary Paradis, Kurt Michaud, David Guerrette, Alan Cyr, Keith Nadeau. 3rd ROW: Pat- rick Roy, Dean Michaud, John Nadeau, Paul Sirois, Managers; Carl Bosse and Andre Ouellette. 52 FIELD HOCKEY 1st ROW: Carlene Beaulieu, Ann Raymond, Lise Lavoie, Donna Lavoie, Mickie McQuarrie, Terry Chasse; Coach, Judy Bougie. 2nd ROW: Kelly Michaud, Louise Chasse, Sue Gagnon, Lisa Guerrette, Cindy Albert, Lisa Corriveau. 3rd ROW: Janice Thibeault, Lynne Franck, Monique Corriveau. 53 54 55 KNEELING: Debbie Ouellette, Paula Desjardins, Louise Chamberland, Doreen Albert.
