NIVAL QUEEN KAREN NADEAU SHADOWS OF THE FUTURE The bright morning star Awakens mother earth so cold. It comes waltzing from the east And gilds the land with gold. The bird that yonder sings. The little creature of soft wings, Brings music to the soul within. I sit upon this mountain crest And look at nature’s very best. The wind laughs and sings And rustles the spruce and pine, As they dance to the melody it brings. I stretch my arms so high To embrace the friendliness of the northern sky. And up above my head A circumfluent cloud Speaks to the rays of red. The blades of green Flow back and forth Reflecting from the golden queen. Flowers of red and white Bow their heads in great delight. All know that after every shadowed night Comes a new day — joyful and bright.
