The fads change quickly through the years, but teenagers never do. Chewing gum and puppy love forever will prevail. The walls of Wisdom High School could tell us many a tale. Faces, old and new, all reflect the same 68 through 78, the message still remains: I'm a person; I need love, too. Look and sse what I can do. Listen and hear what I have to say, I want to make tomorrow better than today. 01ve me support; don't tear me down. And I’ll give you a smile. Instead of a frown. YVETTE CLAVETTE 17 DAWN OF A NEW TOMORROW Somewhere in an endless expanse. Was born a wee little tree. Firm limbs and emerald leaves enhanced The object of beauty it came to be. Golden fruit mellowed and flourished. Hordes of birds soon appeared. From the luscious produce they nourished Plucking, pecking, until all was sheared. The fruit being gone, the tree now dead. The birds departed, hurrying in search Of a tree on which to perch And for fertile places in lands of dread. Michael Qoucy 19 20 A BRIGHTER TOMORROW The future is a time which many of us fear A time of much turmoil sorrow and misery But must we imagine it to be so bleak, so dreary Perhaps we should alter and brighten this image Let us look forward to these years to come Years filled with laughter friendship and love A time in which we may enjoy the splendors of the universe Moments that soon will be memories never to be forgotten So do not fear the inevitable future Rather splurge in the boundless joy that accompanies it Look to the coming years with anticipation and optimism Cast a golden ray of sunshine upon the shadows of the future Andrew Martin SHADOWS OF THE FUTURE Shadows of the future; visions unseen even without saying. Out of reach, they escape our grasp. Tomorrow’s horizon, so near, yet so far. Dark images that are fearful, mysterious, and hopeful, like a foggy haze behind a misty mountain. Abstruse reflections seen without a mirror. Myths untold, lacking comprehension. Rough images yet to be. What do the shadows of the future hold? People who recall stories told to them about a time when they could look to the sky and see blue and a sun. Now the people look up, they see gray and buildings. Could there really have been a time, or is it just another fantasy, like trees with green leaves that grew out of the ground? Michelle McQuarrie 23 WINTER CAR KING GUILDO QOUCY 24 NIVAL QUEEN KAREN NADEAU SHADOWS OF THE FUTURE The bright morning star Awakens mother earth so cold. It comes waltzing from the east And gilds the land with gold. The bird that yonder sings. The little creature of soft wings, Brings music to the soul within. I sit upon this mountain crest And look at nature’s very best. The wind laughs and sings And rustles the spruce and pine, As they dance to the melody it brings. I stretch my arms so high To embrace the friendliness of the northern sky. And up above my head A circumfluent cloud Speaks to the rays of red. The blades of green Flow back and forth Reflecting from the golden queen. Flowers of red and white Bow their heads in great delight. All know that after every shadowed night Comes a new day — joyful and bright. SHADOWS OF THE FUTURE Shadows of the future are hard for us to see. The dreams we hold today may seem distant and hard to reach. But through determination and persistance. We may find the goals we seek. Helen Sirois THE SHADOWS OF THE FUTURE One shadow stands alone and awaits the future — The future that will soon be born. Then he will become the man of tomorrow And will hold everything in his hands. Denis Collins 29 SHADOWS OF MY FUTURE Sitting here, thinking, my mind wanders aimlessly to the future. The future seems so near, yet so far. I wonder what it has in store for me: Will it be good? Bad? Will it be happy? Sad? I seem to be looking at it through a cloudy mirror I am coming to a crossroad. Which road do I take? Where will it lead? Maybe tomorrow with the rising sun. I’ll have an answer to my many questions. But only time will tell. I shall find out in the Shadows of My Future Frances Picard 31 SENIOR CLASS PRESIDENT VICE PRESIDENT DIANE CYR ALLEN THIBEAULT TREASURER SECRETARY LEOLA ALBERT SHARON PARADIS ALBERT, LEOLA BERNIER, DANIEL BOURGOIN, NORA ALDRETE, JONI BOUCHARD. DANIEL CHAMBERLAND. ALLEN ANDREWS, DELRAY BOUCHER, RINA CHAMBERLAND, DENNIS +nnt? rr 8HAD0W8 OF THE FUTURE A child stumbles upon the rocky paths which lead across the many fields of knowledge. It seems all at once that he must cross the many bridges which obscure his way. However, guidance from people Important to him enables him to stand upright and staunchly face all the problems that make up this complex thing called life. He grows. He blooms. All the fruity of his experiences thrust themselves Into the realization that the coats of shelter and security must be shed. Now there Is little distance remaining before the path converges onto a road— a road which holds the answers to what lies before him. This child Is each of us. Time has passed almost unseen before our eyes. We can cherish only the wavering glimpses of what remains. We are leaving our friends and classmaees, but we leave with memories unbounded- treasure chests overflowing with souvenirs of the past. We take this leave with saddened hearts and hope that this road will fill our lives with the happiness and knowledge we have known In our years together. GARY NADEAU, BERNARD NADEAU. ELAINE I 42 THE ROAD OF THE FUTURE The night sun shines brightly And the land sparkles with laughter. All is peaceful, all is quiet. Shadows form a beautiful sight As they stretch over their nature child And embrace it with arms of love. They whisper of days gone by. They whisper of days to come. A path is seen upon the snow Autographing the land wherever it goes. It leads beyond what one can see. It leads to a new destiny. GUILDO 80UCY NADEAU, FRANCES OUELLETTE, DANNY PARADIS, SANDRA NADEAU, KAREN OUELLETTE, JUDY PARADIS, SHARON OUELLETTE, CAROL PARADIS, MARK PELLETIER, RAYMOND 44 PLOURDE, DOREEN ROY, RONALD SIROIS, CHARLENE PLOURDE, LEWIS ROY, VALERIE SIROIS, HELEN RICHARDS, KEN SINCLAIR, CARL SIROIS, PHILIP A PATH INTO THE FUTURE He walks along an unpaved path And listens to the stories of birds. He walks slowly and passes by A virgin pond of tranquility. He stops and looks into It And sees a tired face- A face of loneliness. He Is wrinkled and his hands are worn. He stares endlessly Into the water. The warmth of a tear can be felt upon his cheek As It makes its way down Into the pond. Tiny ripples appear. My toes dig deep into the sand As I go running along the beach Feeling the waves upon my legs. A white seagull cries in the distance And breaks the silence of early morn. The red sun rises behind the sea It warms my face from the colling breeze. And casts ray running shadow everywhere... The ripples on the pond calm and all is silent. A man’s shadow can be seen As he walks away along an unpaved path. GUILDO SOUCY TARDIF. EVELYN THIBEAULT, RICKY TOPOLE, CAROL SIROIS. RONALD THIBEAULT. ALLEN VAILLANCOURT. QOUCY, GUILDO THIBEAULT. MR. FERN GAGNON The 1978 Pioneer is proudly and respectfully dedicated to Mr. Fern Gagnon. Those who know him can only approve of this selection as being the right one. Fern has spent 25 years in our edu- cational system as the most popular man in S.A.D. 33 and a long time friend. We truly hold him in high esteem for his unselfish devotion to Wisdom High and its student body. Dances, rallies, assemblies, games — these are but a few of the activities that involve the services of this untiring and patient man who has put first above all things the school and the people within it. 160 %hf; ¥ mm sm t m ■ l; • yimwwm ■mmwit r Mmhi Mi ■ r
