A stud ent's year is a fleeting succession of images, an assemblage of scenes montaged one upion another. Classroom scenes, speciali events, teachers, students, sports arid' organizations create at pattern of memories. How do you draw a portrait of a year? From the chaos, abstract a class, an event, a 1'ace,a grou p. Frame them in ai campus scene and create a scra pbook of portraits of a year - at Wisconsin State University-River Falls.

ACTIVITIES OPPORTUNITIES The most colorful elements in the portrait are the special events and activities that highlight the yea r. All-school events like Homecoming and Winter Carnival are the froth and fun of campus life. But other special events add a vital dimension to the academic experience. Fine Arts Week spurs creativity and an interest in the arts by bringing nationally known performers and artists to campus. The Grassroots Politics Conference applies national questions to state and local interests by attracting politicians and scholars to the campus podium. The World Affairs Forum presents opposing views of current foreign policy issues by visiting experts. Special-interest activities such as theatre and music, publications and debate, dance and rodeo, offer every student a chance to contribute his talents and energies to campus life. From the whirling maze of activities, each student chooses those compatible with his interests and abilities - those most suitable for framing in his portrait of a year.
