He was killed in acTion aT ST. Lo, France, July 27, I944. A broTher, Jack, was also a Corporal in The army in France. His parenTs are Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cornell who live near Eau Claire.

While here he was inTeresTed in inTramural aThleTics and was one oT The mainsTays oT The Falcon Tennis Team. He was class presidenT, member oT The STudenT Sen- aTe, and R Club, and was acTive on various commiTTees. In May, 1942, he enlisTed in The Reserve Signal Corps and served in The Hawaiian Islands Trom May, I942, unTil Feb- ruary, I943. He sailed To New Guinea in May, I944, and Tool: parT in The invasions oT boTh LeyTe and Luzon. On January 29, l945, he was killed in a plane crash on LeyTe. LT. Anderson's company, The 989Th Signal Company, re- ceived The Bronze STar Tor iTs parTicipaTion in The LeyTe and Luzon cam paigns LieuTenanT ROBERT E. BOERNKE RoberT E.
