I think probably the best education comes from learning a little of all cultures, I think l'm becoming socially integrated pretty well. Now, if I could only find a BIlmpey's I'd 1 be all set. l've begun to learn quite a bit already. l've learned some basic differences in vernacular that are really interesting. One example points up the inherent generosity of the southern people. In New York we give people the the wing , down here you get the whole bird. Fortunately, no one has been provoked into giving me so much as a feather yet. City people, especially New Yorkers, pride themselves on sports knowledge if not actual ability. We watch and play basketball, base- ball, tennis, hockey, and soccer and aren't bad at billiards, bowling, ping pong and tlddly winks. I myself have played a number of these sports. Footsballl I have never heard of footsball. I cannot play footsball. I believe I never will be able to learn footsball. It's incredible the number of footsball professionals to be found in this town. I watched two sllps of glrls hold a table for three hours against all comers. During the course of their conquest they con- sumed a case of beer and half a carton of cigarettes. They put away opponents twice their size and brawn. Truly a liberatlonist game. I expect to see them back at it next weekend for I am told they are always there. That's why they're so good in spite of being very, very drunk most of the time. The genteel South. Sure. I asked for a rye and ginger at the bar and the guy looked at me like I was crazy. It seems that rye whiskey is just called whiskey as opposed to bourbon or scotch. In New York you drink scotch or rye. Don't ask a New Yorker who George Dickel is, he won't know. Janis Joplin liked Southern Comfort. I Ilked Janis. I hate Southern Comfort.
