FOREWORD We, the staff of the 1957 Searchlight, hope that our efforts have brought ■ forth an annual which you will cherish long after your days at Winterville High School have become days of the past. It is with humble hearts that we present the 1957 Searchlight to you. May you cherish it and keep it as a constant reminder of our Alma Mater . TREES Joyce Kilmer I think that I shall never see A poem lovely as a tree, A tree whose hungry mouth is prest Against the earth ' s sweet flowing breast; A tree that looks at God all day. And lifts her leafy arms to pray; A tree that may in summer wear A nest of robins in her hair; Upon whose bosom snow has lain; Who intimately lives with rain.
