Devotions were given and the qualifications of the inductees were read. As the beautiful strains of The Battle Hymn of the Republicv died into the cold afternoon, the feeling of expect- ancy became more intense. One by one the thir- teen seniors and four juniors were tapped and escorted to the stage where they received their cards, pins, roses, and candles. Following the singing of the Alma Mater, the inductees slowly left the auditorium, carrying their lighted candles with pride. So ended the 1961 induction cere- mony of the National Honor Society. 60 1
