Second row: Wayne Watterson, Dale Forbis, Dale Hansen, Joe Cuellar, Frankie Martinez Jr. Third row: Coach Hitt, Bobby Kozen, Leland Johnson, Dale Corbett, Arther Hobbs, Frank Martinez, Chris Fernandez. U BHSHETBHLL This year the C's had to learn one of the toughest lessons offered in the world of sports-that of taking a series of loses in the spirit of good sportsmen. Any member of the squad can testify to the fact that things look grim when the odds are consistently against you. Nevertheless, Coach Hitt and his boys kept on fighting and therefore deserve a hand. The C's started out their league play against Davis. The final score was 12- 43. Their next game against Clarksburg was a little closer, but ended 12-23. Their third game was with Dixon who edged ahead 37-26. The C's had Clarks- burg seriously worried, when they came within three points of toppling them. The final score was 23-26. At this point the C's were improving fast. The C's didn't lose their courage and fight even after losing to Courtland 27-32. In the return game with Clarksburg Winters fought their hardest but fell short 19-36. In the re- turn game with Davis the boys had a double obstacle. First, they were up against rough competition, and second, they had to play on Davis' court. The score ll-49. There was no stopping the champion Dixon Rams by a score of 31-11. Playing their last home game made no difference to the C's for they were determined to play their hardest win or lose. Esparto won by a score of 12-22. Courtland forged ahead to finish up the season with a score of 40-17. 46
