H BHSHETBHLL The A's 1954 basketball season was very successful for what little height the team had. They lost three or four close games where more height would have meant af victory. The Warriors started out the season by losing their first three games. Their first win came when they beat the Woodland JV's, 48-Z5, here at Winters. The Varsity started their league play by defeating Davis 46-34. This left the Warriors in a tie with Dixon and Clarksburg for first. Then they lost a close one to Clarksburg Z5-30, to drop. to second behind Dixon and Clarksburg for first. Their third game was played against Dixon which they lost 33-41, to drop to fourth behind Dixon 3-0, Clarksburg 3-0, and Esparto Z-1, The following week they dropped their third straight at Esparto 46-56. Then they knocked off Courtland 46-33 for their second league win. Starting the second half Winters again beat Davis in Davis this time by only one pointg 36-35. The following week they lost their second close game to Clarksburg, this time by two pointsg 35-37. The next week Winters went to Dixon and took the worst beating of the year 32-52. Then the Warriors played their last home game and racked up their highest score of the year in beating Esparto 61-50. The A's dumped Courtland for the second time to end the season in a tie for third and forth.
