FUREWURIJ If we have filled this book with the gleam of youth and maintained the treasured memories of the swiftly moving events of the 1963-1964 school year in Winters High School, then we, the staff of this year's Glacier have fulfilled our aim. The Glacier which was ours for so long now is yours. When the final section was mailed to the printer the long afternoons of hard work that we claimed so jealously and secretively since September are now over. We hope this yearbook will be well remembered for many years to come. It will be outstanding ir1 beauty, delight to look through, fond memories brought to mind, or as a valuable and useful source of information. One can look up Old So-and-So who sat behind him in Algebra, recall watching the 'lth graders thumb through its pages for the very first time with anxious zest, or She was my English teacher: wasn't she pretty then'? , also Here's that cute boy in my plane geometry class! , or There 's the doll I've seen sever al times in the lunchroom. Wonder if she's going steady? , and bring to mind the most precious moments when the Big Blue nearly went all the way to the State finals in football, May this annual be received exactly in the same attitude, spirit, and enthusiasm with which it is submitted, It is our honor to proudly present to you your 1964 Glacier yearbook. E ' w me E A if wa. Miss Mattie Cooke During the course of life a person comes in contact with many wonderful people. In every community there are those who seem to rise above others. Some excel in achieve- mentsg some, in wisdom: and a few gain fame because of riches. Then there are those we remember for their over-flowing personality and the influence they have in helping us on our way. The math department of WHS has been blessed with just such a person. She has helped make our math department one of the best. All who have passed her way will remember how she mixed humor with math making her classes most enjoyable. She has a way and has a special interest in you as a person as well as a student. We, the members of the 1963-64 GLACIER Staff, are happy at this opportunity to ex- press our deepest appreciation to a most outstanding faculty member of W,H,S. in dedi- cating this 1963-64 edition of the GLACIER to MISS MATTIE COOKE. May you have many hours of pleasant memories from the pages that follow. The Glacier Staff
