Superintendent It is distinctly a privilege to congratulate you upon the successful completion of your high school work. The attributes shown by you in achieving this goal willbe ofbenefit to you throughout life and I sincerely hope this spirit of cooperation, this am bition, this dependability and enthusiasm will remain a part of the adult life you now enter, May your life be successful, happy and of benefit to your fellow- man, your community and your country. This year's Glacier Dedication goes to a pe r s on whom we think certainly deserves this honor. In every way, she tries to help the students and show an interest in school affairs. She patiently main- tains order and quiet on second floor. Whether it is ye lling, Pugnate! Pueri! Pugnate ! at a pep rally or patiently explaining a geometry theorem, she is untiring in her interest in the student body. The Staff hopes that in dedicating this annual we can show the re- spect which we feel for her and partially thank her for her interest and work. We respectfully dedicate the 1959-1960 Glacier to Mrs. E.Y. Buckner. Among her other second floor duties, Mrs. Buckner also has a study hall. She has truly been aguide to all students even in subjects she doesn't teach. We would like to thank her again for her interest in Winters High School. 5

Principal i 4 I consider it a tremendous challenge and a great honor to be called upon to make the s e few passing remarks in your yearbook. This is of course farewell to the seniors who will this year leave our high school. However, it is a farewell that can be looked upon with remembrances ofa school year of great achievements in all aspects of our school life. I offer to each of you my sin- cere congratulations 'for being a part of the finest student body anywhere. We will thumb the pages of this yearbook many times in the years to come . It is well to re- member the words of George Eliot who wrote 1t's but little good you'll do, watering last year's crops. We might add to that proverb the thought that we should look ahead to next year's har- vest. You have attended school so that you might better yourself in the harvests of the many to- rnorrows is important and your contribution to that tomorrow is dependent upon how well you have learned in the past and how willing you are to learn in the future. Would that it were possible I would give you success, courage, vision, and a productive life. Though I cannot give to you these things I do wish to you all of those things your ambitions desire, your ability can give to you, and your hard work can earn for you. Sincerely, Rodney D. Cathey 7
