A great increase of interest in sports was shown over previous years. Each girl being Will- ing to do her part to make a success- ful season. They have played good clean games and deserve much credit for their ef- forts. The best played and also the most interesting game of the season was the one with Monroe on February 28, 1928. BOYS' BASKETBALL Winterport High School started the basketball season with several inex- perienced players and, by much coaching and practice, brought the season to a close with five victories and five defeats. The team was somewhat handi- capped during the season by injuries. One of the best games of the season was the one at Monroe which resulted in a 20-4 victory for Winterport. The game at Hermon was perhaps the most exciting one of the season, Hermon leading until the last few moments, when Dorr replaced Cap- tain McDermott and scored three goals in less than two minutes of play. The final score was Winterport 29 and Hermon 27. Captain McDermott was the high point scorer of the season, having a total of fifty-eight baskets to his credit.
