1 Student Council Holds Fund Raising Volleyball Game The 77-78 Student Council, under the leadership of President Dan Trueblood, consisted of all the officers and representatives of each class as well as its own officers, Vice-President — Scott Calloway, Secretary — Olivia Smarte, and Treasurer — Valerie Sheffler. The Student Council represents and governs the student body as a whole by promoting school activities and school spirit. They sponsored such projects as the Parent-Student Handbook, the selling of Blue Devil Derbies, and a Junior-Senior volleyball game to raise money for Homecoming. Homecoming, Student Council's major project, successfully pleased all who attended, mainly due to the intensified planning and hard work of the members. The group also took charge of the annual Howdy Dance which welcomed the sophomore class. Student Advisory Sets Standards for Inter-Racial Relationships Student Advisory, under the supervision of Mr. Oximar Woodard, met bimonthly in the cafeteria to discuss racial and student-teacher relations. School improvements, in addition to problems involving discrimination, also made up portions for group debate. Five black and five white students from each class formed the thirty member organization which sponsored WHHS's Field Day and Intramural Track meet.
