Queen Karen and King Dan Reign For 77-78 Karen Kingham and Dan Trueblood, seniors at Winter Haven High School, claimed the 1977-78 Homecoming King and Queen titles at the annual Homecoming dance at the Citrus Dome on November 4, 1977. Karen and Dan, chosen by the student body, reigned over a 12 member court consisting of: Sandra Dryden, Benji Adams, Tammy Farley, Kenny Ellis, Gwen Faircloth, Lemuel Geathers, Cindy Johnson, Kevin Joiner, Tara Quinn, Mark Schreiber, Olivia Smarte and Tracy Young. The Homecoming festivities began at 4:00 on November 4 with the annual Homecoming Parade. Later the Winter Haven Blue Devils seized a 30-14 victory over the Orlando Evans Trojans. The dance, sponsored by Student Council, started immediately after the game with music provided by Rambo Street. At midnight. Brad Campbell, president of Key Club, announced the winners of the float competition. All clubs centered their float entrees around the theme Greek Mythology . CO-OP secured the first place trophy for Catapult the Trojans ; second place traveled to Anchor's hands for To Hades with the Trojans , and Lee Juenes Filles walked off with third for Trample the Trojans . Mistress of ceremonies, Gina Emry, then declared Karen Kingham and Dan Trueblood as the reigning Queen and King for the 77-78 Homecoming festivities. 1) Cheerleaders await run through of players. 2) Karen Kingham, senior at WHHS, accepts Homecoming crown. 3) Dan Trueblood and Karen Kingham declared as King and Queen. 4) The Blue Machine , entered by Cooperative Education, takes first place in the Homecoming float competition. 5) Band exhibits enthusiasm during Homecoming Game. 6) Part of court awaits kickoff. 18
