Homecoming The hectic days of preparation . . . Devils’ Doings and the colorful parade . . . an exciting game and the suspense before the announcement of the King and Queen ... a wonderful dance ... all are parts of a Homecoming we’ll never forget. The students honored Floyd Dean and Lucile Van Duyne by electing them Homecoming King and Queen. The Grand March, at the Homecoming Dance, played an important part by adding merriment to the festivities. Page 26 The royal court consisted of Charles Davis, Larry Tucker, Edd Dean, Frank Kahnert, Mickey Trueheart, Floyd Dean, King; Lucile Van Duyne, Queen; Nancie Brook, Gaye Gardner. School life begins at 8:20 with students arriving by cars and buses. All hurry to their homerooms, where the day starts with devotions and the salute to the flag. Students crowd around Mrs. Scarborough to see the new encyclopedias. Linda, Joan, and Trellis give the devotionals over the PA system every Monday morning. Figure sketching becomes more interesting as Carmen Stone poses for the art class. Highlights The highlights of the Homecoming parade were the prize-winning floats. First, second, and third prizes were awarded to the Anchor Club, Tri-Hi-Y, and Spanish Club, respectively. “Turn the tide on the Greenwaves.’’ “We Anchor our hopes in you Devils.' ‘It’s in the hat.'
