OFFICERS President Pete Kalogridis Vice-President Bob Conley Secretary Sue Beasley Treasurer Mary Kunberger MOTTO Today we follow, tomorrow we lead. CLASS COLORS Red and White. SPONSORS Mrs. Workizer Mrs. Copeland Looking toward the future, we, the Class of 48 boarded the Freedom Train” and gallantly approached the impressive structure of W. H. H. S. Going My Way was Pete Kalogridis’ song as he was elected president of the Freshman Class. Edwin Coleman, famous coronet soloist in Auditorium Session,” won the outstanding band award. It’s true that It’s a Long, Long Way to Tripperary, but Pete Kalogridis and Wiilo-dean Beasley made it when they won the American Legion Award. Jane, Jean, Clarence, and Pete were pages at the Jr.-Sr. Banquet, our last stop before we got off the Freedom Train.” President Pete Kalogridis, conductor of the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe, yelled, All aboard,” for a Sentimental Journey through the tenth grade. Tooting Hey Bob-a-Re-Bob” on their prize horns, Marilyn Atkinson and Paul Smith .won the Outstanding Band Student Awards. In the Merry Month of May” Jane Strickland was crowned queen of the first annual Spring Frolics. Signing, Sincerely Yours, to his essay which won first prize in a State Essay Contest, Pete yelled, Last stop, summer vacation.” Tippin In” on A Long, Long Train with a Red Caboose and Doing What Comes Naturally,” we again elected Pete Kalogridis president of the class. Pistol Pack-in Mama, Jane Strickland, held the money bag for the Student Council, and Edwin Coleman was Vice-President. Pete Kalogridis must have used some of the Old Black Magic, because he was elected Secretary of State at Boys’ State, which sent him to Boys’ Forum in Washington, D. C. With Stardust” in her eyes But Beautiful” Betty Mc-Kown was crowned Spring Frolics Queen and her gridiron hero, Clarence Peebles, was crowned King. Of course The Stars Will Remember” the Junior Play, A Case of Springtime.” Our Long, Long Train with a Red Caboose” stopped for summer repairs shortly after the long awaited Something Sentimental”; the Junior-Senior Banquet under the circus tent. Climbing on The Chattanooga Choo-Choo,” we cried Murder” as Pete Kalogridis sang, There I’ve Done It Again” when elected The Best President We Ever Had.” Oh, What It Seemed To Be” thought Edwin Coleman when he was elected president of the Student Council Association of the State of Florida. This sent him Deep In The Heart of Texas for the S. S. C. A. Convention! Pat Patton was intrusted with the Miss Smith Mrs. Wolfe job of recording the Memories in the Annual. T-e-dou-ble-n-e-double-s-double-e” sent us the mighty Jack Luna, who was captain of the football team and won the most valuable player award. With Stout Hearted Men like Peebles, J. Yarbrough, Brightwell, Wiggins, Cottingham, Conley Wilson, Touchton, Daniels, Bowen, Hancock, Von Hahmann, Rients, Smith, and B. Yarbrough, our team went down in history. As Time Goes By” the comment will remain They Say It's Wonderful : our play Two Gentlemen and Verona.” Pass That Peace Pipe was our cry as we went to the wonderful banquet given us by the Juniors. Now that June Is Busting Out All Over and our Chattanooga Choo-Choo” is Flying Home,” we, the graduating class of 1948, find many Heartaches looking back Through the Years. But now we can sing our Anniversary Song” and know How Lucky We Are.” Till Then,” M. S. Daniel R. Lathers B. Tait
