'iiiieilil-1 Dear Seniors: Tempus fugit Ctime fliesl. This was the first sentence that I learned in Latin I as a freshman high school student. I did not appreciate the significance of that sentence then. I was not concerned with the truth of it. Time does fly. This appears to be something that more people recognize during the years immediately following college than any time during their lives. New responsibilities, duties and obligations, along with all of the experiences that come with being on one's own, absorb most of our energy. Days, months, even years seem to rush by us. Old friends may be forgotten. Old experiences are pushed farther into the background. It is our sincere hope that this book will enable you to keep mem- ories of your days at Winston-Salem State alive and that it will inspire you to retain the wholesome friendships of your college days. It may remind you of some real struggles, perhaps even dis- appointments. We trust that most of all, it will enable you to recall some of the happiest moments of the early part of your lives.
