We are completing our third year, and this will be the first graduating class in the history of the Winston School. Over these past years, I've been very pleased with the growth of our students, faculty, and program, The student body has had the oppor- tunity to participate in a varsity sports program, student council for- mal, student fund raising, fine arts program, and several commiinity service activities. Also, our Llchool has a chapter of the National Honor Society and at the end of the school year we have an awards' day to hon- or students who are motivated to ex- cel within our program. Congratulations to the success of our first graduating class, and as we con- tinue to mold the Winston program, your contributions and memories will remain with us forever. Each grading period this year one third of our students have earned a place on the Honor Roll. Our Mid- dle school Soccer and Basketball teams were first in regular season play. The girls' basketball team won the sportsmanship award in their league. Middle School stu- dents participated in both drama productions, and some were select- ed to join the Harleguin Society. The combination of dedicated and talented teachers and eager stu- dents has made for a successful year. I am very proud of all. Not only was San Antonio the largest city in the United States without such a place, the Yellow Pages listed a school in Utah as the nearest. 3. These families approached Paul Erwin, Headmaster, Lester Levy, President Emeritus of the Board of Directors, and Wilbur Smither, Present President, with the dream of starting a satellite Winston School in San Antonio. After raising start up expenses and enlisting 80 students, the school opened its doors at the jackson-Keller Elementary school in September, , VY 5 - 1 va F -. :1 fr: 5. ' -- ..4v- 'g Elf S- :.- K ww Preparation for this addition to the family included a 3 day retreat in August funded by the Hearst Foundation. This event enabled all the administration and faculty members to experience Winston's unique, supportive approach to educating bright young people with learning differences. Mr. Erwin has recruited a top-notch faculty and carefully molded a new Winston beginning. Other Metro folks involved in the exchange have been Principals Barbara Blumenthal and Beverly LaNoue, Adminstrative assistant Ellen Davis, Development Director Mike Klickman, Counselor Barbara Burke, Diagnostician Stephanie jones, and Outdoor EdlDirector Ginnie Combs. At Present there are over 80 students and 17 facutly. Planning is underway for the hiring of a new Headmaster for Winston 5ChOOlfS8I'l Antonio for Fall 1986, when the enrollment is anticipated to be 100. it Good Luck To The Winston School DEALER S WHOLESALE WELDING SUPPLY INC Congratulations To The Senlor Class Have A Successful Llfe' MR AND MR K SCE-N9 . wg Rs K' X . , 6 J Congratulations K v To The Oo w5C Senior Class Lg: 'llwe ul'l'1maTe an customized apparel t Texas ,egos Commerce Ba k loarlaara blumentlwa 0 0 coco ellen davus Congratulations Seniors 1986 Pavillon jewelers T e Class Ring Specialists I n Preston Royal vALLev v ew AT as AIC 214 243 2893 oa Pencu N PLAzA FARMERS enANc rsxAs 75234 THE CLUB SHOP TRUPHIES WARDS MET L GRAPHICS PLASTIC AND PRECIOUS ET l ENGRAV NG WADE RIDDELS As Time Goes By Big D Bazaar Booth 365 8: 366 Toulouse 3636 N Buckner Dallas Texas 75228 M gl F lc 12141 ses 4179 42143 327 1 .605 6' f Il - 0 'S' 0 Q , ll 0 in ' 0 o O O o I I- - - I H.
