David Moody This past summer, Arizona Boy’s State was held at Northern Arizona University, and Girls' State was held at the University of Arizona. At both States, the delegates formed city governments like those of Arizona. Each delegate is assigned to one of two parties, and each party elects all the officers needed for their government. Also, a governor is elected for the whole State. They learn how Arizona’s government operates and it gives them a better understanding of city and state governments. During the week, there are many guest speakers such as Arizona's Secretary of State, an FBI man, and a Congressman. Both Girls' and Boys' States are very worthwhile programs as it acquaints the young people of today with government.
