“
We, the 1965 METEOR staff, hope that this annual will become one of your most prized possessions and that you may look back over the faded snapshots and remember the good old days at W. H.S. In later years, while turning these pages, if you should recall the many smiles, sorrows, and dreams of '65, we shall be content knowing that we have done the thing we were called upon to do. We have tried to present a key to each division and activity of high school work and fun. Knowing that the key to success is enthusiasm, we have all whole-heartedly joined in to make this METEOR one of the best ever. We feel that your satisfaction with this volume is our compensation; and with this thought, I proudly give you the key to the 1964-65 METEOR. During our high school years there have been many times when we have needed help and guidance. It was during these times that we found we could always depend on Miss Hinson. Whenever we have needed advice, she could always be counted on to give us wise counsel and the answers to our questions. She has taught us good citizenship, respect, and honor, in addition to helping us gain unity as a class. To you, Miss Hinson, we dedicate the 1965 Meteor in return for the priceless gifts of knowledge and inspiration you have bestowed upon us. We want to express our deep gratitude for the guidance and support you have so unselfishly given us in your years of service at Winslow High School. The first natural gas transmission line in the country — made of tWo inch wrought iron pipe — was laid in 1872. a distance of five and a half miles from Newton to Titusville, Pennsylvania. Today, America’s natural gas pipeline system forms a vast 500,000-mile network which brings gas to practically every part of the country. Gas has grown and gas continues to grow. Because no other fuel is quite so fast and accurate and dependable — so efficient as natural gas. In the past 30 years alone, natural gas has tripled its share of the nation’s energy market, and now supplies one-third of America’s total energy requirements. Southern Union is one of 1350 investor-owned gas companies whose continuing research and expanding facilities are making gas even more popular at a rate of one million new customers a year! GLIDEWELL VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS OF THE UNITED STATES CAPTAIN CHARLES L. HATHAWAY POST 3076 WINSLOW, ARIZONA EDITOR’S PA GE As the year draws to a close, we look back with pleasure upon the events that have filled our cup of memories to overflowing. We have attempted to capture the best and most outstanding of these memories and to put them between the covers of the 1965 METEOR. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have an advisor as capable as Mr. David Conatser to help us over the rough spots; and we can not adequately express our thanks to our photographers, Tim Wade, Kenneth Yee, and Ray Wong, whose patience and cooperation with the annual staff has been truly astonishing. To my staff, an especially to my assistant editor, Jo Ann Armstrong, I say, Thank you. Your cooperation and hard work have been appreciated. We hope that we have succeeded in our endeavor to present a good annual to you, the students of Winslow High School. I sincerely hope that you will enjoy the 1965 METEOR as much as I have enjoyed editing it for you. Gloria Alarid METEOR Editor 1965 192
