 ? neov vMl Early on the morning of August 28 our old Alma Mater, Winslow High School, went up in flames. 'Mid the smoke and flames, teachers, students, parents, and firemen wept as they all worked together salvaging what they could from the burning high school. After many desperate hours the fire was conquered. It was then that the real work began. Other schools were very sympathetic and offered us anything we could make use of. Our science department used Holbrook's labs once a week, typewriters were loaned to us, and many other educational facilities were made available. With the co-operation of the Junior High, school started the following week. Thus sharing the Junior High we attended school in split shifts until we entered the rebuilt W.H.S. on March 6. Our book begins with that eventful day of the fire showing you pictures of the destruction, the various buildings used for school while W.H.S. was being repaired, the activities and the fun we had during the year, the students and our faculty and administration without whose help and support we never could have had such a good year. We have tried to give you the highlights of this year and show you how Winslow High School’s faculty and students functioned without a school to call their own.
