H. S. Neither are we forgetting some of the things we learned in school. We’ve studied hard and after twelve years of being led to the water we have all drunk some of the water of education. For some of us it is our last year but for others it is just a fork in the road of learning, but for all of us it has been an unforgettable experience. We are not forgetting the sports we’ve entered either. Many of us have played and some have excelled but none will forget. We’ll all remember our Prom, our assemblies, our class plays, and the Rumpuses. Most of all we’ll remember our Graduation Exercises, and our class, as a whole, as the best that ever was or will be. What we started to say and have been trying to say all along is that we are learning and we would like to say “Good Bye” to all and we’ll never forget you or the things associated with you and our school. As Freshmen we built the “W for all the football rallies. We did our part in making the Bulldog Rumpus a success. Other freshmen activities included an assembly for the entire school and the Junior-Freshman dance. When we became Sophomores our first action was to instruct the Freshmen in their duties about Winslow High School and to familarize them with its customs. At the Bulldog Rumpus our “Kite Club” and “Western Union” were patronized by almost everyone. The Senior-Sophomore dance was an outstanding event of the year. Our assembly “SOPH” was a realistic radio program. This year we became upper-classmen. We are striving to make Winslow High a place of importance in our lives. This year a large percentage of the football team consisted of members from our ranks. As Juniors we have taken an increasing share of duties and reponsibilities. The Junior Play and Junior Prom are some of our important social events. The ’’Kite Club” “White Elephant,” “Style Show,” and the “Basketball Throw” were our contributions to the success of the Bulldog Rumpus. In 1947 we hope to be the largest and best class that has ever graduated from good old Winslow High. Our Senior year is going to be one that everyone will long remember as a very eventful year at our Alma Mater. Winslow High as Seventh Graders in 1944, we were very active. Wc reorganized the Junior High Council, put on a Junior High dance, and helped with the Rumpus by bringing in more money than any other class. As “green” Freshmen and not too sure we also had a year filled with activity. Wc put on the Freshman Assembly, helped with the Bulldog Rumpus and the Junior High Dance. Returning to Winslow High in the fall of 1946, the Class of ’49 began their Sophomore year. This year in the Bulldog Rumpus we had Bingo. Kangaroo Court, and a side show, “Paris A-la-mode.” March 7, with the assistance of the Seniors we put on the Senior-Sophomore Dance. Our class has contributed lettermen in the sports of W. H. S. also. After two successful years in W. H. S. we are still looking forward to two more years in Winslow High School. Page Twenty Rill Ames. John Bagwell. William Baker. John Bertino. Pres. Sccreturi Treasurer F II E S II M E After passing through the Seventh Grade, we like all others before us became “green” Freshmen. In the Seventh and Eighth Grades, we took part in the Bulldog Rumpus and other activities. In the Eighth Grade we took first price for having the best float in the Bulldog Rumpus Parade. We are having several concessions in the Bulldog Rumpus this year Of these, we are having Dates with Kisses, Fish Pond, Grab Bag, and Beauty Shop. We hope to take first prize in the floats again, although we will probably have pretty tough competition. This year in the football season, we built the “W,” like all others before us. Luckily they all burned, but there were some times when we were in doubt. The Junior-Freshman Dance will be the 28th of February. We will take part in that also, and hope it will be a success. The Freshman boys have been very successful in basketball this year. We have several boys that play on the “B” squad and one boy that plays on the “A” squad. We are really proud of them and figure that our boys will have a pretty good basketball team from the way it looks now. We have all had fun this year and hope to have more fun in the three years to come even if we won’t be “green” freshmen forever. Page Twenty-Five Carolyn Allen, Delberta Baker. Virginia Bartos. The girls must undergo a very strenuous initiation. They are gnrbed in the traditional overalls and shirt, along with huge onions hanging from their necks, and are christened “rats.” They are to obey all orders given to them by the old members of the Pep Squad, or “Superiors.” The Pep Squad takes an active part in all athletic games and many other school functions. The annual Reverse Dance is sponsored by this organization. The members also have the honor of attending the Football and Basketball Banquets in honor of the football and basketball teams.
