We were enrolled as Freshmen. fWe tried to get in as ,Seniors but they wouldn't let usj. This was the beginning of the illustrious class of '28. Unlike most Freshmen, we had the unusual combination of weak minds and strong voices. Those who entered as Freshmen were: james Abel, Vernon Barnett, Orvis Bee, William Bellamy, Maceil Brewster, Geraldean Brewster, Frank Brewster, Arthur Bowmer, Ted Brown, Earl Carlisle, Earl Chew, Frank Coberly, Odyne Fettingcr, Kenneth Fettinger, Fountie Hayden, Paul Hume, Kermit Hurst, Naomi Wickware, Hibbitt Woodford, Haskell Woolsey, Fred XVillis, Lawrence Young, Wilburn Singleton, Delbert Keith, Edna Rodarmel and Helen McConnell. William Bellamy was our representative on the basket ball team. For our class officers we elected: Hibbitt Woodford, President, Odyne Fettinger, Vice President, Fred Willis, Treasurer, and Helen McConnell, Secretary. Our teachers that year were: Emery Couts, Harry Mauntel, Waldo Wood, Esther Barrett, and Elmer Lucas. The next year we came back and succeeded in entering as Sophomores. It was this year that we really won our reputations. fFor bad or worsej Mr. Couts had left us to become County Superintendent. Our teachers were: B. O. Johnson, Harry Mauntel, Waldo Wood, Eleanor Greene, and Esther Barrett. Our class consisted of: james Abel, Ted Brown, Vernon Barrett, Geraldean Brewster, Orvis Bee, William Bellamy, Frank Coberly, Oscar Coberly, Earl Carlisle, Earl Chew, Odyne Fettinger, Kenneth Fettinger, Kermit Hurst, Edison Johnson, Malcolm Nixon, George Nichols, Hibbitt Woodford, Fred Willis, Haskell Woolsey, Lawrence Young, Robert Barrett, Edna Rodarmel, Paul Hume, Helen McConnell and Maceil Brewster. We were shown into the mysteries of Latin and were prepared for an introduc- tion to Caesar the next year. This year was full of jokes and pranks of which our class took a prominent part. We had several social events, among which were a hayride and a Halloween party. Page Seventeen
