The Day Of The The Freshman Reception was one that will long be remembered by the student body and faculty members of Winooski High. A variety of characters, from the lowly position of shoe shine boy, to such famous ce- lebrities as Baby Jane, made their rare appear- ance. The following is dedicated to those Fresh- man Convicts who gave willingly of them- selves to the demands of the MIGHTY SENIOR WARDENS. Baby Jane goes into action. 70 Freshman Reception o That's it, get 'em nice and clean. And one of the notorious Spar- tan tacklers, Beastly Bigelow appeared. Even the teachers got into the act. And The Night . . . Let’s hope this egg is hard-boiled! 72 was filled with fun and consequences for those freshmen who could not keep up with senior demands. A lot of hard work went into the Recep - tion which undoubtedly made it the big success it was. ... and they called us wallflowers! Practice might make perfect. They wanted a white thumb! 73 I'd like a date but, this is ridiculous! He proved that he was up to the adjustment by scoring winning baskets in at least two games, and feeding for lay- ups in many others. An aggressive rebound er for his 5'XO frame, Jim was willing to hit the backboards and get his share of re- bounds against the bigger boys. Paul McLeod, the strongest player on the squad, used his strength to its best advan- tage, by out-rebounding opponents on both the offensive and defensive boards. Paul also developed a fine overhead jump shot which was very difficult to stop due to his six foot three inch height. With a variety of hook shots inside and the deadly jump shot outside, Paul was able to lead the team in scoring in eight games. Paul’s selection to the Sunday News All-Northern League first team confirmed his value as an all-around ball player. Bernie Hebert, in his third year as a varsity basketballer, proved that the first two years were not wasted. The team’s fastest player, Bernie developed into a fine driver with either hand. Mid-way through the season he also became very effective with an accurate jump shot from the top of the key which made him a very difficult player to defend against. Gary Wells developed into the team's best defensive player as he was able to hold his man to only two points in the second half in two consecutive games. Gary also pos- sessed a fine jump shot from the corner which enabled him to hit double figures in many games. Paul Rabidoux possessed good jumping ability and the sixth sense of being in the right place at the right time. Lean and mean, Paul held his own with any and all opponents on the boards. With a field goal percentage of 47. 6, 42 assists and 231 to see how valuable Paul was to this year's team. rebounds, it is easy Rick Boyd - Rick's all around ability and knowledge of the game made it possible for him to be used both as a forward and guard. Possessing fine body control and good hands, Rick was always a threat with driving cork screw lay-ups and a good one hand jump shot from 25 feet out. 95 Cummings struggles to gain possession of a loose ball. Rabidoux pumps in a long jumper. Hebert jumps it up against B. F. A. Massucci puts in a hard gained layup. McLeod pumps in a short left handed jumper. Then in no time you were a senior, .you were now a young adult.. thinking of col- lege and hating the thought of graduation and being out on your own. Remember all the good times you had.. Freshman Reception.. only this time you were the Mighty Senior looking down at the freshmen?? Remember planning your yearbook... and how proud you were to say you had a part in it? Like nothing time flies and then it's May and you’re already missing your friends and the good old school! You walk down the hall and hear freshmen complaining.. saying they can't wait to get out of school. If they only knew! !! If only they knew! !! Now you're walking out those big doors for the last time. You look back and all at once the last four years flash back in your mind. All the happiness... all the sorrow ... victory.. defeat.. remember?? How could you ever forget??? 1968 COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES SUNDAY, JUNE SIXTEENTH TWO O’CLOCK A WINOOSKI HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM ' ' N.; • u •r -V-4S :' , •'■ ' - ‘t- _• s ' ' -'; V’ • ■ • • •-; .' - - - - V   v VV Ffl 'ft7- - £ % •
