' D clication guided by his foresight, experience and untiring effort. We gratefully acknowledge the long painstaking service of Dr. Minne in fostering the central purpose of the college, the purpose which he himself has defined as giving the individual student the opportunity to be educated in such a way as to maximize his potential for himself and for society. To Dr. Nels Minne, retiring president of Winona State College, we proudly dedicate this book. ln his twenty-two years of devoted service, Dr. Minne witnessed the expansion of the college from an enrollment of five or six hundred to more than three thousand students. , The campus, extremely small when he took the helm in 1944, has grown to more than seventeen acres, covered by new buildings, equipped with modern facilities, a multiple growth by no means automatic or inevitable but aided and Our sincere thanks for his lasting and valuable contri- bution to the college and community.
