Because of the outstanding leadership of these persons, the seniors were able to participate in activities which aided in the expenses of the senior class. The seniors were able to raise money from the sales of magazine subscriptions and candy to pay the costs of a senior trip, a gift to the school, and gifts to the senior class sponsors. HEAR YE! We the 1974-75 graduating class were given by the Halcyon staff a page in our senior section to put on it any- thing that we wanted. Some of us suggested that we put a big blue frog on it, some wanted a green WILDCAT, and some wanted to leave it just blank. But since these things would look silly on a page in a section of such mature persons, we finally came to the conclusion that we would like to dedicate this page to you, the Senior Sponsors. You Senior Sponsors have done much for us and we just want to tell you THANKS! Mrs. Milling Mr. Wheeler SMILE SENIORS! YOU’RE ON CANDID CAMERA Hey! Are you sure I'm on Candid Camera? If so, where are the microphones? Well if 1 won't be doggone 1 You're looking at me! 83 I see you. Do you see me? We books want to get on the scene, too. After all, where would you students be without us. I’ll just stand here and let the cameramen think I'm a senior. 84 Mr. Kinard has me building sculptures when I should be posing for this picture. 36-24-36. Who is it? Is it Geraldine? Hi there! I'm your school doctor. 1 and 1 is a headache! Aw! Isn’t that sweet Debra Timms? Hey man! Get Robert Few out of the way so I can see Myself. Hey! You guys are supposed to be surprised! 85 A little more of buzzard lungs will do the trick. This point blot turned out to be a Macbeth, how do you do? real fly. Can you believe it? I made a B in English! Sit down! Can't you see I'm being watched? One small step for Man Two giant leaps for Mankind These were the famous words quoted when the astronaunts step- ped upon the sur- face of the moon. This marked a new turn in his- tory. We the grad- uating class of 1974-75 are leav- ing behind our footsteps. Wej, too, shall mark a new turn in His- tory. BUS DRIVERS The students and faculty of Winns boro High School appreciate the services that the bus drivers render every morning and afternoon Bus transportation is necessary for many Winnsboro High School students and serves as a convenience for those who live the fur- thest away from the school. Driving a bus means leaving a little earlier and returning a little later, but it consists mostly of driv- ing carefully and safely for the protection of each passenger. 108 Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun. , , . poof i no Three, two, one Chicken livers-n-popcorn doesn’t agree with everyone. TEAM FACED TOUGH COMPETITION The year 1974 was a memorable, ex- citing, and challenging football season for the WHS team. They ventured out into a new gridiron competitive world --4-AAAA conference. WHS, formerly a member of 3-AAA conference, entered a new conference, but the competitive strategy and the game was the same. This was a season of games played under cloudy skies, falling rain, and muddy turf which all added to the Wildcats record, 2-1-8. 119 SENIOR Avery Anderson Tommy Boulware Larry Crowe Larry Glenn Tracy Jolly 120 Chuck Joye Wesley Marthers John McCullough PL A YERS Terry Melvin Richard Moore Marzettis O’Neal Todd Rexrode Herbert Robertson 121 Sammy Robinson Charles Stone Sammy Wade K 124 What re you sitting for, the game is out there! 2-4-15 Let's Boogie! 125 Calling all cars . . . The game was exciting and much fun to all those attending. The teams consisted of senior and junior girls with sophomore girls divided between the two teams. The boys were cheerleaders and sponsored the senior girls. The senior team was victorious with a score of 12-0. The band played and cheered the girls on. A touchdown is made by the seniors. Junior powder puff players look desperate and worried. Abby Brice takes off with the ball. Elton Squirewell is crowned Powder Puff King. Cheerleaders?! ?! SPRING JAMBOREE The Spring Jamboree was held on May 16 during fifth and sixth peri- ods as a fund raising project for band uniforms. PROM The Junior Senior Prom held on April 18, 1975 was very enjoyable to everyone attending. The music was provided by Free Spirit” of Charlotte, North Caro- lina. This group aroused the spirits of everybody. The theme of Somewhere My Love was illustrated beautifully as the gym was decorated to match it. The co- operation of all involved helped to make this year's prom a success. Free Spirit is really doing their thing. Party time is anytime and anytime is party time. Couples dance to the musical tones of the spirited band. Sophomores prepare and serve drinks and delicacies. Couples wait in line to get their pictures taken. 11 Do we have eyes for you! 154 Floyd Pauling escourts his date, Sherlon Gibbs to their table. Much excitement is expressed on the faces of those at- tending. Frazee Harris seems to be displaying his outfit and shoes instead of dancing with his date. Not only are the juniors and seniors enjoying the prom, but the faculty members are too. Richard and Lisa are really boogying to the music Stanley and Lolita try to play it cool, of Free Spirit. 155 A THLETIC AWARDS BANQUET The Athletic Awards Banquet, held in the school cafeteria on the evening of May 14, was a complete success. We would like to bring a special recognition to two outstanding people who have worked especially hard to make our play a success. Mrs. Lucy McGuirt and Mr. Clarence Reid have been great sup- porting actors of our play. We appreciate these people and thank them for their help in enriching each of our lives 184
