The WSHS Marching Tiger Band started the 1982-83 year with a new band director, Mr. Karl Carpenter. Un- der the field direction of Drum Major Raymond Holden, the band marched to the Dome for the AA State Football Championship. The band marched at the District Marching Festival at NSU, rating an excellent. After the half-time shows, parades, and contests, marching season was over. lt was a time to look for new horizons-to set new goals and to reach them. It was concert season. Even with the loss of a few members, the band played on. And played well! The band won the Sweepstakes Award at the Large Ensemble Festival at NSU. Many who thought the band had com- pleted its work for the year, were wrong. The band was looking to the future - for bigger and better things. And they played on.
