CLLLINS- the r r - - Cn Your Mark, Get Set, Go! Garlon Powell The Tigers started out this years track season by placing 2nd in the Rebel relays in Pine ville to AAA powerhouse Bol ton Next came the Tiger relays and Winnfield completely out classed all competition Then came a first place finish in Marksville in which Kevans Nears broke the school record in the high jump with a leap of 6 8 Injuries plagued the Tigers as they placed third in the Cenla Rally, but they came back strong and took 1st place in the News Star World track meet in Delhi, as Benny Mitchell broke his own school record in the 100 yard dash at 10:64. At the district meet, the Tigers had a bad day and finished 2nd to Jonesboro- Hodge, but still managed to qualify 13 events for regionals, where they finished 2nd and broke three region records and qualified 5 events for state in Baton Rouge. 110 meter high hurdles 'X Craig Ward and Jay Crooks assist with the long jump. Senior Spotlight CHESTER BRINSON- ,, ., ,,,t. , ,,.-,r probably the most versatile athlete on the track team. Runs the sprint relays and throws the shot and discus odd combination does well in both. JESS GRIGG- a very good example of what persistance and determination means to an athlete. BENNY MITCHELL- Benny,s talent and speed should carry him a long way past high school athletics. He is one of the top sprinters in the state and he has only touched the surface of his potential for greatness.
