The Speech Club, sponsored by Mrs. Nell Grigg, was an active club. Among its activities were the 3-Act Dramatic Production, Cheaper By The Dozen,'l the annual talent show, Tiger Follies, and the NSU Speech Tournament. Members relaxed and enjoyed themselves at rehashing parties and the Christmas Banquet, Whose theme was HChristmas Under the Big Top. Speech Was It The club members were divided into three major groups: Radio-Greg Lawrence, Chairman, Discussion-Debate-Jay Crooks, Chairman, Dra- matics-Jennifer Haley, Chairman. To qualify for membership, students must have had Speech I or currently be enrolled. The 1982-83 officers were: Matt Purser- President, Todd Wold-Vice President, Addie Thornton-Secretary, Gayla Johns-Reporter, Vonda Martin-Historian. The officers looked for- ward to the Old and New Officers, Party follow- ing the Installation of Officers Ceremony. The purposes of the Speech Club are to pro- vide opportunities for discovering and develop- ing talent, to promote school spirit, to improve public relations, to encourage fellowship, to mo- tivate classwork, and to arouse intellectual curi- osity. r-1 Salt Rock: - e Time-Writers The Salt Rock Staff, sponsored by Mrs. Sheila Causey, aims to produce a yearbook which re- duces to words and pictures an interesting re- presentative record or history of the school year. Throughout the year, the staff sold ads and yearbooksg took organization pictures and snapshots of studentsg oversaw school pictures and senior portrait daysg and designed and pro- duced the yearbook. Members must be seniors with 2.5 average or better and be selected by the faculty.
