The Student Council's main functions are discussing problems and ideas of the students, and working for better cooperation be- tween the students and the faculty. They also plan many of the school activities, including Homecoming. The theme was carried out very nicely with the decorations in the gym. The Council has also planned noon-hour activities for the stu- dent body, including ping pong, shuffleboard, dancing, and vol- leyball. These activities are supervised by Student Council mem- bers and members of the faculty. Another duty of the Council has been to appoint student hall monitors. The monitors are chosen strictly on the basis of their dependability. There are four stationary monitors and two roving monitors. During the second semester the Council studied and discussed Civil Defense. 29 UNCIL
