FRESHMAN MEMCJRIES Conversation overheard in the lunch line: Boy-how do those seniors rate? They always get ahead of us! They're more experienced, that's all. They've had more prac- tice. Wonder how they thought of all those mean things to do to us for initiation? k 3'That was fun, though. Gee, l sure felt sorry for some of those ids. lt was o.k. to push an onion across the floor, but why did they make me do it with my nose? Well, how would you have liked to have eaten raw oysters? The only reply was a loud wailing groan. Remember the first day of school? someone said. That was really something, wasn't it? We were all trying to pretend we weren't scared, but we actually were stiff with terror. lt was nice when we had that meeting. We could all get to- gether and talk over our summer vacations. That's when we elected our class officers too, isn't it? Yea. We chose Grant Nelson for President, Ronnie Mueller, vice-president, Donna Breaker, secretary, and Dale Johnson for treas- urer. We elected representatives for Student Council then, too. For that we decided on Bill Freund, Jim Kiesow, Betty Grignon and Karen Wentzel. The guys for the l-lomecoming court were selected then also. They were Jim Kiesow and Ronnie Mueller. For partners they asked Judy Beck and Karen Wentzel. The Freshmen girls won a first prize on their float, someone said arrogantly. The subject was shifted abruptly when someone brought up the B team. Quite a few of our Freshmen boys made it, didn't they? We'll have a good team by the time they're seniors, provided they keep up the good work. Betty Grignon had the privi- lege of becoming a cheerleader, too. Talk ambled on, until it was back on initiation again. They claimed zealous dislike for the seniors, but all in good fun, of course. STANDING from top to bottom: R. Mueller, Vice-President: D. Breaker, Secretary: G. Nel- son, President: Treasurer not present. 26
