CLASS PROPHECY It is June 7, l972, 6:00 o'clock Central Standard Space Time. The graduating class of i957 is taking off in a spaceship for Mars, where their class reunion is going to be held. ' The mad chemist, Judy Grunwald, who previously served time for stealing Mr. Kmiotek's chemicals, designed the ultra-modern Kelly Rocket. lt is named after the recently famous Jeannette Kellogg. She is now driving hot rods on the Indianapolis Speedway. Professor Rodney Williams is manning the controls of the spaceship. His assistant Meredith Heuer, will take over while Rod eats his Mars candy bar. The rest of the crew include Bev Borree, now a registered nurse. She is helping Doc Grignon, who is now a brain specialist. Russell Krueger is busy keeping the Kelly in good mechanical condition. Eleanor Riley, the second grade teacher, brought her children to watch the history-making event. A few were barred from the event because of the loss of their activity tickets. Mrs. Jim Mulvey, the former Arlouene Bradley, brought the children to the rocket port in her bus. Holding back the excited crowd was the guard of the testing grounds for the Kelly, Bill Kiesow. His wife, Judy Wheaton, is excitedly running around giving directions to everyone. In the crowd we see Lois Pride, who couldn't make the trip because of a concert in Carnegie Hall, where she is to be guest pianist. Marie Mienen couldn't attend either, she is forging checks in Cell Block l4. Pat Kolodzik and Glenn Michels were also absent because they are to be married tomorrow. Mr. Michels is President of the Michels' Cannery, and Pat is his secretary. At long last we take off to see the rest of our classmates on Mars. On the way up we stopped at the Orihula Fuel Station. The attendant was none other than Bruce La Marche. There is a night club near by where Bruce spends all of his spare time. His friend, Bob Kent, the new rock and roll rage is working there. Bruce has won numerous jitterbugging contests with his partner, Nancy Schmidt. Lyla Glasshoff is kept busy during intermission doing the Jack. Once again the ship is on its way. In a short time we reach our destination. The first thing we see are women in rocket dress. This is the new rage on Mars, designed by the brain-child, Mar- garet Korn. Now it is time for our tour of Mars. We are curious about our former classmates. We find that Cleo Hanson is now teaching Sunday School at her husband's interplanetary church. Joyce Brommelmeier is making Martian bread and rolls. Edna Decker has changed jobs. She is now working in the Mars Town Restaurant, selling Joyce's doughnuts. Mary Ellen Disch is now running a horse ranch. Her ranch hand is the famous cow-puncher, Ted Phillips. We also see Ronnie Day, who stopped in at his Meat-by-Day plant to see how his business is coming along. Although Marge Popke is engaged and still waiting, she acts as his secretary. Joanne Moriearty and her fiance were exclaiming over Marion Gebauer's four sets of twins. We heard Joanne mention a June wedding. Joy Hofberger and Roland Hansen decided to get married because they had so much in com- mon. They are now running a fruit ranch. Barbara Olson is rolling in dough since she married Elvis Presley! She is having a hard time trying to switch their seven children to playing the accordion instead of the guitar. Living next door to Barb and Elvis are Kenny Hubli and his wife, Rosa- lie Mathison. Carol Romberg is now in the Mars' Wacs. She blows taps every night.- The people of Mars are building the Mars' El Capitan Highway. We see Joanne Linstedt and Darlene Dorow helping the construction men. An- ton Opperman is one of the lucky workers. Dave Peterson is now President of the first Marathon Corporation on Mars. We see him and his wife, Jackie Thiex, taking a ride in their radar-controlled car. We are not surprised to see Guy Van Asten managing the Midget Girls' Basketball Team. We see Marlyn Wiesner, who is now running the well-known Bachelor's Club, talking to Georgia Reese. Babe didn't marry because she didn't want to lose her romances. She now gets paid for sending her love letters to the Winneconne News. As we are taking a walk near a lake, we see Jerry Puhl. His sole occupation is fishing-on Sunday. The rest of the week he rests. While we are at the lake, there is a big splash and up pops Irene Quigley. Quig has been practicing eight hours a day for the lnterplanetary Olympics. She has to be in bed by 8 o'clock every night, which is quite a shock to her system. Sharon Schmeling, the inventor of the famous Sharon Hand Lotion, has samples for every- one. Don Neubauer, is happy to get the first bottle, because he has dishpan hands. His maid, Judy Smith, refuses to do the dishes because it might ruin her chances of finding a man. Nancy Bork is scrubbing floors, waiting for her boss, Marty Coughlin, to get out of the pen. He got ten years for steaming labels off beer bottles and putting them on root beer bottles. He was selling them at quite a profit. Lavonne Opperman and Tom Washburn are a team in a touring ballet company. They are about to put on a big recital. Mary Beth Morgan is taking her twelve children to it. Don Pinnow, her husband, is still playing Elvis Presley records most of the time. We are all surprised to see Doug Johnson. He is the inventor of that formula, Grow Tall. Doug is now 6'6 and the girls are wild about him. June Olson is talking about all of the men she meets while she is driving her interplanetary taxi. She is working to support her husband, Bill Parsons, because he is still dreaming of the day when he will become All-Mars Football Player. Susan Breaker is now modeling space suits for Shears and Robots. Her husband, Art Miracle, is now running the modeling school. While visiting the store, we run into Ken Rozek, head of the ladies' clothing department. Before we go back to Earth, we decide to watch TV at the hotel. We see that great producer, Melvin Mathison's new show, Mel- vin's Other Wife. Star actors in the show are the husband and wife team, Marjorie Becker and Lloyd Svacina. As we arrived back on Earth, we all agreed to have our next reunion on the moon. The End QU6srg f .1 I 1 1. mz-:-.gg Ywigigffxifelfg. ig. '-mia-Q. Vice-President Joanne Gauerke Peggy Wentzel Treasurer J U N Social Chairman Mary Lul'sey Janice Landwehr ln a special Junior class meeting for officers, they were discussing a special benefit dance ffor the Juniors' benefit naturallyl. The class presi- dent, Tom Keough, was planning what his classmates were to do to help get the dance plans underway. Tom and the class' vice-president, Joanne Gauerke, were hoping to fill the class treasury, under the supervision of Mary Lutsey, with lots of needed cash for the prom. With the help of their social chairman, Janice Landwehr, they hoped to make the dance a success. First of all, they would need chaperones. How about our three ad- visors, Mr. Diamond, Mrs. l-loeft, and Mr. Schauer? suggested Tom. They all agreed, and Joanne was elected to ask them. That settled, they decided they needed two boys to act as dance su- pervisors. Janice suggested Tom Keough and Jerry Reetz, but since they both were on homecoming court that was ruled out. Why don't we ask the two boys that are our student council representatives, Larry Armstrong and Chuck Radtke to do it, and Adele Christianson and Judeen Erickson, the other two representatives to play records, asked Peggy Wentzel, the class secretary. They all decided it was a fine idea. Next came the problem of the dance theme. Someone suggested honoring the Junior Class athletes at the dance. lt was decided upon and Peggy wrote down the long list of boys out for sports, which included- Chuck Radtke, Larry Armstrong, Elroy Angell, John Buser, Tom Ehlke, Carl Hendry, Malcolm Davis, Bob Lipske, Chuck Bradley, Jerry Reetz, Chuck Schueler, John Reinert, Doug Jensen, Bob Holtz, and Fred Krue- ger. Mary Lutsey suggested that Adele Christianson, the only cheerleader from the class announce them at the dance, and make a small speech in their honor. Final plans were made and the special meeting was adjourned just in time for the first class of the afternoon. 19 ,-......., J. rrickson, l. Wischow, ROW 2: C. Schueler, R. Larson, T. Keough, M. They've had more prac- tice. Wonder how they thought of all those mean things to do to us for initiation? k 3'That was fun, though. Gee, l sure felt sorry for some of those ids. lt was o.k. to push an onion across the floor, but why did they make me do it with my nose? Well, how would you have liked to have eaten raw oysters? The only reply was a loud wailing groan. Remember the first day of school? someone said. That was really something, wasn't it? We were all trying to pretend we weren't scared, but we actually were stiff with terror. lt was nice when we had that meeting. We could all get to- gether and talk over our summer vacations. That's when we elected our class officers too, isn't it? Yea. We chose Grant Nelson for President, Ronnie Mueller, vice-president, Donna Breaker, secretary, and Dale Johnson for treas- urer. We elected representatives for Student Council then, too. For that we decided on Bill Freund, Jim Kiesow, Betty Grignon and Karen Wentzel. The guys for the l-lomecoming court were selected then also. They were Jim Kiesow and Ronnie Mueller. For partners they asked Judy Beck and Karen Wentzel. The Freshmen girls won a first prize on their float, someone said arrogantly. The subject was shifted abruptly when someone brought up the B team. Quite a few of our Freshmen boys made it, didn't they? We'll have a good team by the time they're seniors, provided they keep up the good work. Betty Grignon had the privi- lege of becoming a cheerleader, too. Talk ambled on, until it was back on initiation again. They claimed zealous dislike for the seniors, but all in good fun, of course. STANDING from top to bottom: R. Mueller, Vice-President: D. The Student Council's main functions are discussing problems and ideas of the students, and working for better cooperation be- tween the students and the faculty. They also plan many of the school activities, including Homecoming. The theme was carried out very nicely with the decorations in the gym. The Council has also planned noon-hour activities for the stu- dent body, including ping pong, shuffleboard, dancing, and vol- leyball. These activities are supervised by Student Council mem- bers and members of the faculty. Another duty of the Council has been to appoint student hall monitors. The monitors are chosen strictly on the basis of their dependability. There are four stationary monitors and two roving monitors. During the second semester the Council studied and discussed Civil Defense. 29 UNCIL Advusor Mr Schauer President LeRoy Boe STANDING, L. TO R.: C. Wiesner, W. Grignon, M. Mienen, G. Kreuger, L. Jim Sparks Marge Becker Homecoming 1957 The theme, Autumn Leaves, was carried out to the letter in the gym. ln the center ot the floor there were several corn shocks surrounded by leaves of many colors. The throne was adorned with black and orange crepe paper, and all agreed it looked just like autumn. The King and Queen, Jim Sparks and Marjorie Becker respectively, made their entrance at the south doors, and walked together to their thrones. The Student Council President, Ronnie Day, crowned Jim, who in turn crowned Marjorie, his queen. The dance was the climax ot the week-end activity, which had begun Friday night with the annual Homecoming Parade. The air of festivity was intensified by the fact that we had won our Homecoming Game, which we played Saturday afternoon. Tom 81 Joanne Judy 81 Jim Wentzel. HOMECOMING COURT Left to right: R. An air of antici- pation filled the room as the orchestra be- gan playing Sweethearts on Parade. All eyes turned toward the two large hearts that served as doorways at the south end of the gym, -as Nancy Schmidt and Dave Peterson began the grand march to the far end of the gym. There, King Don preceded by his Queen, Judy, made his grand entrance through a rose covered trellis, and they marched sedately to their thrones. The King, Don Neubauer, was crowned by our class president, Nancy Schmidt, he in turn crowned Judy, his Queen. Don Mary The Queen's formal was white and floor length. The skirt was made up of many narrow rows of ruffles, and billowed about her like a lovely white cloud. The gym was truly beautiful. The pre- dominating colors were pink, turquoise, and silver, streamers of which made the false ceiling and gave the room a canopied ef- fect. ln the center of the gym h-ung'a huge pink heart. Everyone had a delightful time, and the Juniors were the first to admit that it was the best prom Winneconne had ever had. Judy Bev Glenn Irene Guy Lyla Y?
